Skating and skill is far more important than anything else.
Liljegren is a thick body, and looks a lot like Hedman. Sandin is just silky smooth.
They have some positioning to work on, and Sandin especially needs to consider his options more before making a play.. But ill bet you Dubas is ecstatic about those players. - Arctic_AARDVARK
Who knew you could develop from within instead of going out and overpaying for D? |

How important is retreving pucks when you can't finish and keep missing easy goals?
Hyman lacks the talent for a top 6 role on a team as deep as this. - RogerRoeper
With the talent on the team, it is a bit of a waste to talk about top six, bottom six. All four lines will have talent. Hyman scored 54 points in 37 games at Michigan in his final college year. Smart kid, works hard, will continue to improve. Relax. Babaschlong is a pretty decent coach - there's a reason he wants Hyman on a line with big offensive jam. |

It's very important when you're getting pucks for guys that can. Hyman is one of the best on the boards in the league that's why he plays up in the lineup. |

Yes...not sure about the Avs "franchise". Lightning will offer the Avs a sick return for that draft pick...just for the chance. - Woderwick

Connor Carrick won competition at camp as the fittest Leaf. We know there are some pretty good athletes at camp. He'll be there this year, has some grit, and will make it. Sandin looks really good - but there is no urgency yet. The defence will automatically improve by the puck being in the offensive zone 80% of the time.
btw : Connor Carrick is a beast - if a dirty little punk like Domi tries poop with one of our scorers - somebody gonna get hurt

Lili will be back with the marlies.

Agree, plus , the way things are being done, doesn't appear to be part of the plan to trade draft picks. Add, improve, repeat. Next draft, I want to see a camera on the Ottawa table as the Avs select Hughes. - winsix
can we please force dorion to be present during the draft lottery
i'd pay $20 to watch that live |

I think the Leafs kinda own Sweden somehow.. Maybe Salming and Sundin did something to the psyche of the Swedish people.. They seem to be able to pluck these guys out of there that no one else really had hopes for. I never heard of Rosen/Borgman/Lindholm and they all seem to be capable NHL players already. Never had to waste a draft pick on them. Then the guys they do draft seem immediately underrated once they get in to the Leafs system. Johnsson looks like a great pick. Liljegren everyone else overlooked. Sandin is going to be a player imo..
Thank You Sweden?
Oh.. and sexy boy was a debated pick, but proved to be the right choice. |

Fits Babs model for constructing a line. Skill/Possession, skill/possession, grinder.
I got no issues with Hyman - he's a workhorse, although I do agree there may be better choices for the top 2 lines. Changes things up a bit as the Leafs higher % of attack is now off the rush, but who gets the puck when teams get sick of their stoopid possession game and force the dump in? Nylander is pretty adept at retrieving the puck with smarts and an active stick, but I don't mind more of a physical presence up front.
We sure are nitpicking this team before the team is even set, and before a reg season game.
Nice change. |

Exactly... obviously the other way around and Matthews only can produce due to nylander on his wing

I'm not saying nylander sucks at all
I'm just saying that with Matthews in the middle a guy like ennis will produce extremely well
I think nylanders agent hasn't considered the leafs scoring depth. The leafs may want him but they don't need him... big difference |

Nylander can play but the leafs can afford to wait it out.

Do you actually believe the leafs will have trouble scoring without him?
