Which is stupid of the agent. Draisaitl is the outlier, not the comparable.

Forsberg, Ehlers, and Pasternak are the comparables.

- GreatGigInTheSky

And Draist did get 77 points the season he got his deal. Willie's best is 61.

Wrong, Pasta needs to fire his agent. Just because a few guys take discount doesn't mean everyone should

I mean it's true in the sense that it's a thing that can happen
- jcragcrumple

yeah... I'm pretty sure that Nylander's absence on the top line won't go unnoticed if it's Ennis that takes his place.

If his agent thought he was the same as Forsberg or Ehlers, have to think that he'd be signed by now.
I'm not saying he's right. Draisaitl is the outlier because he plays with McDavid.

Not wrong.

Draisaitl got way overpaid and the rest are right in line.

I hear you. But that shouldn't prevent a player from negotiating the best deal possible so long as you're prepared for the consequences of being traded.
- hawkeytown

I know it sounds crazy, but I think a swap for Panarin is the leafs best play. It puts you in a hell of a position to win the cup. And the thought of Tavares, Panarin, and Marner on the same line? Best line in the history of hockey! You may even be able to keep him long term with some cap management heroics. Worth the risk in my opinion to ice one of the best teams since the 80s Oilers.

The Oilers had to pay Draisatl the "you have to overpay me to stay in Edmonton" premium.

It's why LA and San Jose can keep guys on lower salaries than Toronto, and Toronto can keep guys on lower salaries than Edmonton.

Cry all you want, but it's true.

Pasta had 1 good season and got 6.6. Why should he fire his agent?

maybe not the best idea..
If you trade Nylander for Panarin and put him on a line with Tavares and Marner, then Matthews is stuck playing with Hyman and Ennis?

Leafs need to move Nylander for help on D. Trading him for a UFA winger would be a dumb move.

I think it’s because he’s the obvious star behind McDavid

McDavid got 12.5

His agent said “is Drisitil 6 million worse than McDavid”?

A 22 year old with back to back 60 point seasons, pay the man. What is Dubas gonna play hard ball with Marner and Matthews too?
- ClaudeFather

Giving him $8 million a year would make him one of the top 25 paid players in the NHL.

So I need you to take a moment, Mr. Flyers Fan, before you answer the following question:

Do you really think that Nylander deserves to be one of the top 25 paid players in the NHL?

Warning: Leafs fans everywhere will be making note of your answer, and possibly throwing it in your face before every Leafs-Flyers game this year.

JVR and Evander Kane both got $7M, Pasta is better than both of them easily.

Heartless Swede with no allegiance to the Leafs who can never win the big game?

Wow, Musselly, that's harsh.

I'm rooting for Enzo. I always liked him in Buffalo. 3 consecutive 20-goal years, and then the concussions just ruined him

Not saying to give him 8M but 7M isn't out of the question or even 7.5M, cap keeps going up and Mcdavid rewrote the market with his deal.

You are comparing UFA's to RFAs.
When JVR was an RFA he signed for 4.5 million per.

You can't compare the two. That's why Pasta and Forsberg are brought up.

You are confusing UFA with RFA.

It's so apples and oranges, even the collective bargaining agreement prevents you from comparing them in salary arbitration.

This may come as big shock to you, but Nylander should not be compared to McDavid.

Looks like he might could turn it around. Those seasons didn't come from nowhere. Time will tell, as in if he gets the icetime. If he gets buried on the 4th line all season could be another ~20 point season
