I’m fine with Green calling him out but man this is fun to watch. There’s clearly a handful of polarizing players on this team who become the hot topic of the day after every bad/good game. One game they’re a lock for opening night according to a group of fans and the next night the player should be waived according to a different group of people.

Meanwhile, there’s a few other players who have good/bad games and no one cares

my point exactly

Goldy - one bad game = go to the KHL you POS!!!

I am not sure how a fan base can complain about the same D (not you) and not make at least one change . We have 2 kids ready for the next step Sautner or OJ
- VANTEL

Regardless of changes our D is going to get crushed. I'm thinking career-high minuses for most.

I predict, our D will be the topic of discussion in here this season.

unrelated, but I hope when 2018 comes to a close, that quote goes with it. Can't stand "snowflake" and "fakenews" and its over use.

I'm watching the game thinking Goldy wasn't that bad. Sometimes the puck doesn't bounce your way.

It's TG and his hard stance on everyone being a full 200 foot player. No difference then with TG being stupid hard on Baertschi because he didn't have a perfect game.

Oh man, calling out the refs so early?

Let's all agree this season to not blame the refs or some grand conspiracy for canuck loses.

- bloatedmosquito

Good luck with that.

quit being dramatic brooksy. Not one person has said that he should bolt for the KHL, or that he belongs in the KHL, or anything close to it. He has played 50 games in a Canuck uniform now, and has had plenty more than 1 bad game while sporting the blue and green. I think a ton of people want him to stay on the roster. I for one am hoping he makes the opening night roster, and stays on a line with pettersson and baertschi, but Green calling him out on a bit more consistency isn't the end of the world, and I am sure his feelings will recover without needing support from fans lol

I don't see it as a huge issue if they stay healthy

Edler Tanev and Gudbrandson are okay . OJ or Sautner are reliable .

Stecher could be a third pair and either MDZ or Hutton could fill in the last spot

Yes, and still an issue?

I'm not commenting on your post specifically, it's just that NHL officiating will always be questionable but at least it's questionable for every team.

I do think many canuck fans take their issue with refing a bit too far. The call-in shows and online comment sections are full of it. Media types do little to calm fans irrational belief that there is some greater force at work against our team.

Just ask Bettmanhatesus.

OK, but when have the canucks cruised through a season without significant injury to their blue line?

Everyone is playing a spot ahead of where they should be.
We have 2-3 guys that could be a solid 2nd paring
and 5 guys that r 5/6/7 D

With a couple guys in the AHL that could also be starting on the 3rd pair, getting some minutes in

Can't wait for Hughes next year!!
Or the very end of this year once the college season is done

Hughes will be the start of proper change. It is going to take years to fix but Canucks are doing a good job finally drafting properly.

OJ looks like he will be a solid 2 nd pairing also .

I kind of see the quality of our goaltending linked to the quality of our D-line. The combination of the two will be scary but it's our key to a good draft position.

I hope it doesn't become a drag on the performance of our young guys. Green's job is going to be tough keeping their gifted players positive.

Full disclosure I only caught the third period yesterday but I was at the game Wednesday against Calgary. I bought cheap seats and just walked down to sec 116 and sit 12th row center ice. Only had to move seats once there were so many empty ones. Edler was by far the best canuck on the ice that night. His confidence and maturity were especially visible given the lineup that night. I watched OJ closely - and it's true he didnt make any glaring mistakes (ala Hutton against Edmonton) but there was nothing special about him either. Nothing to say he was any better or worse than Sautner. I did notice he lost a couple foot races and his speed concerns me. Big time. He'd jump in the play and get caught from behind. Canucks would turn it over in offensive end and calgary forward would beat him to our blueline. I'm not saying he's a bust, or he can't get faster, or wont be a norris contender in the future, but right now he's facken slow out there.

Also it sounds like the radio is dikriding Leipsic a little too much. The guy is flashy and tenacious, great qualities, but he lacks skill and execution. The goal he scored was a nice move around one defender, but then lost the puck and took a wild swing at it.. and it happened to go in. Not really the highlight the canucks machine makes it out to be but good plays were few and far between on Wednesday.

On the subject of Goldy - I watched Goldobin a lot last year when he was with the team. It's not that he takes shifts off so much as there is no resilience to his game. He falls and loses the puck, and then does snow angels on the ice rather than pick himself up and try to get it back. He does look physically more mature this season which is exciting. And if all he does is score goals in the shootout well that's a role this team will need going forward.

I see it the opposite. I see the D loking bad because the goalies let in everything

OK, was just using your criticism of officiating to segue into a broader topic regarding canuck fan's obsession.

I think it's an interesting topic. I get the feeling you do not.

I'm not from BC, so I don't hear the callers.

People hate certain players. I just see a worth. People think the team doesn't win because of the refs, I see a team that isn't that good, didn't put in the effort, goaltending wasn't good, forwards didn't finish the chances, defence with Hutton type mistakes, out played by the opposition. It certainly varies game to game.
