Virtanen played 4th line minutes and is defensively responsible.... apples and oranges. - Pres.cup
Also a good point. Goblin is being gifted a tremendous opportunity to start on the 2nd line if he can gel w Pettersson. To not even show up for a game? Pathetic

Exactly, he got called out because green gave him all the rope in the world to tighten his shiz up , but he hung himself instead.
I’m fine with Green calling him out but man this is fun to watch. There’s clearly a handful of polarizing players on this team who become the hot topic of the day after every bad/good game. One game they’re a lock for opening night according to a group of fans and the next night the player should be waived according to a different group of people.
Meanwhile, there’s a few other players who have good/bad games and no one cares

I suppose that’s what you get when half the roster doesn’t belong in the NHL

Fair point.
I definitely don’t remember arguments over depth guys when the team was good. In fact, the majority of the fans usually hated the scrubs. The hate was united.
I think that you just compared goldobin with Ovechkin..... I'm just going to leave that out there and aren't going to comment further.

I compared their defensive capability, and it was an easier comparison as they are both from Russia, but there isn't a comparison other than that. Russians hate playing defense, lets face it.

But there’s top tier offensive wingers from every country who don’t really care about defense. Kuznetsov is the only center in that group above.
Obviously you have guys like Datsyuk and Fedorov who were beasts
Anisimov is considered a 2-way C
Radulov is actually considered to be very good defensively for a winger
Kulemin was always considered to be a 2-way forward
Burmistrov is a 2-way player, same with Barbeshev
Artem Chubarov for the Canucks was a pure defensive forward
I don’t think I’ve seen Malkin or Tarasenko ever called poor defensively but they’re not getting selke votes either

who was the last Russian player to ever win the selke? I don't remember. Either way, Goldy needs to be more consistent, and I don't think that Travis Green is asking to much out of him by saying that.

I believe Datsyuk, he won it in:
2007/2008
2008/2009
2009/2010
Aren’t there usually only like 15-20 or so Russian regular forwards in the NHL since the last lockout? Kind of hard to compete with all of the North Americans lol

edit - it was Sergei Federov, twice for DET - Codes1087
You have changed since your ban. I don’t like you anymore codes. You used to care about players feelings. Goldobin must be devastated

Granlund played fairly well and Virtanen and Schaller are Lock’s. Goblin Leipsic are the bubble players that are fighting for the last spot. The fact green is calling him out means he cares about the kid. - CanuckDon
Once those two come back from injury, they have to make a decision on trading a vet or two, or decide between Leipsic, Goldy, Motte, Gaunce - bigpetar
I am not sure how a fan base can complain about the same D (not you) and not make at least one change . We have 2 kids ready for the next step Sautner or OJ
I am late to the party, what did you get banned for? Seems out of character. - DuranDuran
I got banned in the MTL blog for POLITELY calling out their blogger for blaming Ekblad as a victim for getting sucker punched. It didn't sit well I guess.
