Oh yeah, I was thinking I will end every post with...
Bottom 5 finish, but maybe I should rethink that to “Bottom 3 finish” |

70 points....then win the lotto - LeftCoaster
There is a lot of rust on this group. Boeser usually doesn't miss. They will get better once they cut the team to size and the timing gets back up there.
Lots of Huttons passes were in the feet last night , I am hoping he will adjust.
Tanev looked like Bobby Orr out there in the end |

This Petterson kid is starting too really impress me, Codes, not so much.
Baertschi also looking like he may have taken a step up, he seems quicker and stronger on his feet, time will tell if this is only a brief stint, or if he has taken that next step.
Loved the Petterson to Baertschi to Horvat goal last night. |

I was blown away at how many passes that Hutton put into feet or on the wrong side of Boeser and Pettersson. Those guys were continually having to adjust, perfect one timers ruined. As you say hopefully he will adjust |

He won’t be on PP1 anyway, Edler will. For all the shin pads he hits, he’s a pretty good passer. I assume he won’t look off Boeser as much with the Sedins gone.
Hutton’s 5v5 + PK game was more important and he bounced back from a subpar game on Monday. 30 minutes last year would’ve meant 5-6 glaring mistakes and a lot of tired shifts, but he played well with Tanev against the Toffoli line and didn’t look tired at all.
Hopefully he builds off of this.

I’m not concerned about Hutton. His success or failure won’t make that much difference to the team. 3rd pairing d-men rarely do. |

it wouldnt surprise me if the powerplay started using more downlow plays with bo rather than use the offensively challenged dmen. bypass the problem all togeher |

Just take what the PK gives you. If they’re leaving Bo open at the side of the net then yeah, I’d keep feeding him and have him try to score or setup Sven in the slot.
If Bo is drawing some attention then you have to try to get Boeser or even EP a one timer. |

Yeah, and as someone else already noted his passes were slow compared to others. On the PP they need to keep working. I liked his even strength play better, jumping in, carrying the puck, skating back hard. He wasn't great, but he was good. He would look better playing 15 min 3rd pairing with a responsible partner. |

I am a terrible troll, the Leafs fans think I am too polite for this game.
I will have too ask Codes for some mentorship on this issue.😁 |

bo has been open a lot but they seem to be forcing saucer passes to the point a lot. i have also been waiting for petterson to be aggressive with the puck, he has a lazer shot and so far the teams havent been respecting it and making passing lanes more difficult. i am sure he will in the regular season but im impatient |

Once someone decides they don’t like a particular player they seem to stand by that mindset at all costs.
I liked Beagles game, glad he is on the team. Gaunce not so much. - Makita
to an extent. I am probably one of gudbranson's biggest criticizers and I thought he was defensively solid last night. He did cough up the puck at the blue line, which caused a breakaway, and his constant icing of the puck is a bit tiresome, but we must give credit where credit is due, he didn't play bad last night. |

I agree that he did play well last night, and as Nucker said 30 mins you expect a certain amount of gaffs, my observation was how he couldn’t set up the one timers. But Edler will be setting those up in the future.
But credit where it’s do, Hutton has picked up his game, now can he do this consistently. |

He was OK, as were the 3rd line (Beagle). Didn't stand out for anything too good or bad. The Pettersson line wasn't great, some good moments, but overall just OK. Dahlen didn't do enough with his opportunity imo to earn a spot out of camp. Granlund looked slow out there, Motte had some hustle, Virtanen was ok. This team will need to play an almost perfect game to win this season, but that isn't news. |

I think what stood out for me, is the fact that john shorthouse had said, around the mid mark of the 3rd period, that LA had won 30 of 43 faceoffs in the game. I know its preseason, but knowing Horvat/Pettersson/Beagle were all playing, that is slightly concerning. Hard to control the play when you are always starting off without the puck.
I thought Brisebois wasn't bad. The fact that I didn't really notice him, might be a good thing. He didn't look out of place. Biega I thought played awful. |

Biega is an easy guy to send down, but he is also a good guy to keep as the extra dman because he practices hard, can step in and play limited minutes and then sit for a month. Like a good backup goalie. I wouldn't worry too much about the 8th dman, if they indeed keep 8. |

Agree with this, but it's good to know his conditioning/stamina has improved to the point where he can handle playing big minutes without looking tired. #Giroux4Captain
One thing I'd ask him to work on when he does rush the puck through the neutral zone is to maybe try to create a play that leads to sustained zone pressure. I noticed he just takes a low % shot with zero traffic in front after making a lot of those nice end to to end rushes.

Good point, I'd rather have him sitting up in the pressbox over a young guy who could be playing in the AHL. |
