I think time, place score might come into effect then. Late in game you might send out Couturier or even Giroux. But that will be one spot that might be a learning curve. - J35Bacher
It's not unheard of to send a player out just for the draw and they come off if they successfully get possession of the puck. |

It's only going to get better with Allison, Frost, Ratcliffe (maybe JOB and Farabee) and Rubstov, maybe Kase, Bunamman and Lycksell next year.
The following year you've got the remainder of the guys from above plus Cates who might be ready to go by the following season. - VladDrag

Just me reading the tea leaves for start of season although I may never truly understand Hak's decisions;
G, Coots, TK (can't screw it up)
JvR, Patrick, Jake (see above)
Lindblom, Weal, Simmonds
Laughton, Vorboyev, Raffl
Leier, Lehtera, Weise, NAK (What will Hak do on opening night? Veterans?)
Provy, Ghost (Not sure on D pairs. IMO Provy and Myers could be best pair in NHL for a long time).
Sanheim, Gudas
Hagg, Myers
Folin, AMac (IR), Morin (IR) |

16 forwards? - MJL
Not meant to be the roster. Just listed the left-overs. Tough decisions to be made.
Weal starts out okay, do we trade him? Move Vorboyev up to 3C, slide Laughton over to 4C and slide Leier, Lehtera, Weise into 4th line winger? |

Damn you guys see what Domi did? - arichardson22
I did.
I don't know what his (frank)ing problem was on that play. They were just battling for the puck. It looked like all normal stuff.
And Ekblad clearly didn't want to engage Domi. This wasn't a situation of Ekblad not being quick enough to get his gloves off. Ekblad was actively trying to disengage and Domi clocked him with a bare fist.
He needs to sit for awhile.

Maroody got a 3rd on potential.
Weal is looking like what he is so your probably not going to get much for him. He's more a finished product compared to Maroody.

My choice there would be Lehtera and Aube-Kubel but I don't want Aube-Kubel sitting much. |

Marody is a decent prospect. He signed in Edmonton, and I've read he's having a decent, eye opening camp.
I do wonder if, for whatever reason, he did not want to sign here. When he first was moved, my thought was he was going to wait out his protection status, and try to have a bidding war. That's one of the reasons why you see a lot of the skilled college guys not sticking it out for 3 - 4 years. Teams don't want to loose them for nothing.
But -- he signed right away in Edmonton, so that means either A) Flyers didn't like him enough or B) He refused to sign here. |

Could also be a case where he wanted an NHL job promised to him for Day 1 and Hextall was likely loathe to make that sort of promise. |

Morin is in a tough spot. Won;t be playing for the majority of the season. Coming off a major injury how realistic or fair is it to expect him to upgrade the PK this season? - MJL
It’s always tough to come back from a ACL. Big guys don’t fly back into action either. With that said I think they gave him a generous time line and with some time down in the AHL to get some games under his belt it isn’t out of the picture.
Not saying it’s going to happen but he could come in sometime second half of the season and make an impact. He was pretty good last year and I thought was about as close to having a starting spot out of camp last year. He gets a lot of beef around the fans because he was a 1st round draft pick that will most likely never put up a lot of points but he is a rare creature and can help a playoff team with his freak traits for sure. |

Our prospect pool is much deeper than Edmontons. He was a long shot to make the team here but has a good shot in Edmonton. |

Why wouldn't they have drafted him in the 7th round, instead of trade the pick? Then, they could have made the decision based on the next few years. - VladDrag

Could it be as easy as they had Marcus Westfalt rated higher and went best player available at that point?
I mean things I read about Westfalt is he could have a Lindblom type game and just needs time. |

True, and to me that falls under a case of refused to sign here. I'm not sure why a deal did not get done.

Judging on who they drafted, I think they did, but the Flyers had two 7th round picks. They traded on for one next year (as they did in 2017 draft) |

Hakstol: “Wayne, you will not play in the pre season and you will be mixed in with the leftovers on the fourth line. Weise will take your place as the net front presence and you will like it!” |

I wouldn’t say I’ve paid close attention this pre season. Maybe one or two periods per game but I haven’t noticed Hägg. That’s normally a good thing for a defenseman. |

Flyers have 14 forwards on 1 way contracts. They could trade or waive some of the deadweight, but when was the last time the Flyers have done that to make room in the bottom 6? - Glak18
Last October when they waived Matt Read. |

I think Vorobyev, mainly because he is simply their best option at 3C, sticks and is in the opening night lineup. Aube-Kubel, unless Simmonds isn't ready to go opening night, probably starts the season in LHV while Dale POS Weise gets first crack at 4RW. However, I expect those 2 will be switching places before the end of November, if not sooner. - BiggE

I think A and B were concerns, but he had an obvious NHL path in Edmonton which alleviated those concerns. |
