I am not going to rail on the guy. He was a solid pro who had some good years. Everyone likes to think they know what Hextall will do but who saw him signing van Riemsdyk this offseason. He has shown to be steady and patient until it's time not too.
But right now i think Twarynski and Aube-Kubel both look like they can bring more then Weise right now. - J35Bacher

You mean Hextall didn't have a crystal ball that allowed him to see the future before the Weise signing? What an idiot!!! |

It's making me sick to my stomach that Hagg is in front of Myers on the depth chart. I would be looking to move Hagg to a team desperate for defensemen
I think vorobyov ends up being sent down even with his impressive camp. Wela and laughton both look better in the center than on the wing and they won't be sent down. The only way I can see him staying is if weal is traded. Also curious to see what happens when Frost and Ruby are ready for the big show as well. Lots of center prospects - bulet13

Flyers have 14 forwards on 1 way contracts. They could trade or waive some of the deadweight, but when was the last time the Flyers have done that to make room in the bottom 6?
Correction...11 1 way contracts, but Patrick, Konecny and Lindblom are staying on the roster. - Glak18
They have a numbers game on both D and with the forwards. Vorobyev is playing his bottom off and if he continues like he has been when the pre-season gets a little tougher he can make this squad better thus forcing Hexy’s hand on keeping him.
Myers is closing in on the same situation. Good to see these kids in position to make this team deeper and better. |

If they think Myers is ready (which, so far, seems like the case), they need to make a trade on D for when AMac comes back. I'd think they could get some return (3rd) for one of Gudas or Hagg if any team is down a D, but I'm not interested enough to look at possibilities. |

He had a rough night last night but I like what I seen from this kid. I hope they give him a contract. I know they are tight to the 50 contract limit but I think he looks likely to develope into a good player. - peesinwind
I think big part of his struggles last night was his partner's plays. |

Dont see twarynski making despite his good camp. Actually don’t even think he is in the discussion.
Does Weise have any value to a team for a 7th rd pick if flyers eat half of the contract ? - rinaldo
One time last night Weiss was on point and someone just pushed him off the puck and were off to the races. He looked lazy on the play. |

I see this opening night:
Giroux-Couturier-Konecny
JVR-Patrick-Voracek
Lindblom-Vorobyev-Simmonds
Twarynski/Aube-Kubel-Laughton-Raffl
Extras: Weal, Lehtara
Waived: Leier, Weise
One of Tawrynski or Aube-Kubel goes to Lehigh. Not enough space for both. Both guys can play on PK which is something that helps. Weal and Lehtara are extras. Both can fill in. Weal in top 9 if needed, Lehtara on 4th line if needed.
Weise and Leier are waived. Just don't bring enough to send someone else down. - J35Bacher
Aube-Kubel has 2 years of pro experience, I think he sticks before Twarynski. It's still hard to say for sure, but I think the opening day lines will be something like:
G-Coots-TK
JVR-Patrick-Jake
Lindblom-Vorobyev-Simmonds
Raffl-Laughton-Weal, Weise or NAK
Some combo of Weal, Weise and Lehtera will be the spares, and Leier will probably end up getting waived. NAK, if not in the regular lineup would also be sent down. |

You might be right.
I don't see any way Weise is on the roster. I think He and Leier get waived. |

if vorobyev gets that 3c spot i'll be happy. he's looked good every game so far. I think myers makes the team out of camp, but i'm worried about what happens when the defense is fully healthy. hoping he sticks though too.
I think twarynski has looked surprisingly well in the games he's played, but I don't think he makes it. |

I don't think there is any realistic shot for Twarynski to make the team. It is nice to see him playing well and getting his shot off, but he doesn't have the speed and experience to consistently get that shot off in the NHL just yet.
NAK can obviously play in the bottom 6 right now, but obviously there is a bit of a log jam. I have a feeling either he or Vorobyev stays unless Hextall surprises us with a trade. |

Also, when it comes to trade value for the bottom vet forwards, don't kid yourselves, there ain't much.
Weal maybe can land you a 6th or 7th round pick. Leier has no value, every team has an equivalent kid or like Leier. Even if they retained half his salary, they'd have spend an asset to get anyone to take Lehtera off their hands, and, unless he starts the season in the lineup and actually shows some heart and results, Weise has absolutely no trade value no matter how much they retain.
Perhaps at the deadline, if a team is hit with a bunch of forward injuries, you could maybe get a 7th for Lehtera with 50% retention, but that is the best you're gonna get.
Weise will, at some point if not at the start of the season, will probably end up waived and playing in LHV. I would expect that he gets bought out after this season and we are put out of our misery.

Provorov, Gostisbehere, Sanheim, Myers, Morin will also be eligible for the expansion draft too. If Sanheim and Myers are both the real deal there are going to be bigger decisions about who to move ahead of the draft to protect top assets than just thinking about Hagg. |

Agreed. They will need to move someone. Then when Morin returns they may need to move another. Although they may get more roster spots by trade deadline. |

I think Vorobyev, mainly because he is simply their best option at 3C, sticks and is in the opening night lineup. Aube-Kubel, unless Simmonds isn't ready to go opening night, probably starts the season in LHV while Dale POS Weise gets first crack at 4RW. However, I expect those 2 will be switching places before the end of November, if not sooner.

Another thing about Vorobyev is he can kill penalties. That's a big plus. Something Weal doesn't do and I think gives him an edge there. |

Could have helped having a stronger partner. Think he was with Folin most of the time. But made his share of mistakes with the pair. |

I think he has a lot of advantages over Weal:
More size, better 200 foot game, can kill penalties...in my book the decision between the 2, or even the 3 if you include Laughton, for 3C isn't even close. |

I do wonder if there is a secret competition going on for 4C too. Like is Weal 3C or bust? Obviously Laughton is the obvious choice if 46/40 wins 3C job. Lehtera gets put into the mix. It seems like a longshot that the 12 best forwards are actually on the ice together |
