Whenever I hear hot taeks about Willy:

Should be a good game. Interested to see how the kids do, especially on defence. Pickard better have one hell of a game too.

It's amazing to me how far the Leafs have come in such a short time. A few years back Nylander was the best prospect that we had & I couldn't wait to see him play in the NHL. Now they are so good up front that I'm not even all that concerned if this goes weeks before being resolved. I obviously want him back on the team as soon as possible. But I don't think that this team is affected terribly in any scenario (sign, hold out, offer sheet, etc) involving Nylander. There is my hot take!

I agree, he has more to lost than the team does without him in the short term. They don't have a replacement winger as good as him, but they have guys good enough to keep his seat warm for a couple months if need be

We are not better without him. We are definitely better with him. And it's a standard issue negotiation play on both sides...it will get resolved.

I think he’s more saying a few regular season games without Nylander isn’t a huge loss as it could be. The team has a ton of depth at RW...it’s 2nd strongest position.

I don’t think he’s arguing otherwise. He’s just saying that the team is so good up front that Nylander’s contract situation isn’t going to cost us many games, even if he’s out for a while.


And I think the same kind of holds true for any of the big-4. If one of them gets hurt, we still have 2 lines featuring elite(or damn close) talent.
