A bunch of guys looked pretty great tonight. I think it's gonna be a hard battle for the bottom pairing spots on defense.

Also hoping Jordan Subban can overcome being Ennis-sized and turn into something but that seems like a long shot.

Borgman plays the left side so he's the odd man out with Gardiner, Rielly and Dermott taking the left side spots unless Dermott really poops the bed the rest of camp. Keep in mind I did say many times before, there's no guarantee Dermott plays 82 games this year. That sophomore slump is a female dog sometimes to some guys. The Leafs are weaker on the right side so their 7th guy should probably be a RHD who alternates with Carrick. Especially because one of their RHD isn't really a RHD, it's Hainsey and the other is Zaitsev and he's a toss up at this point. So that right side is really thin.

Holl just does everything simple. He's one of those guys you don't notice he's out there because he's not doing anything flashy but he's not making mistakes either. That's exactly what you want from your 6th and 7th D. He's big enough, good enough skater and just thinks the game very well. Late bloomer as hell but good depth player.
