Today’s youth are coddled a lot more then past generations, these kids need praise for their confidence. Today’s NHL players need strong communicators as coaches and need the pat on the back when they are doing well. But, they also have to expect to hear about it, in a positive way, when they need correcting on something they are not doing well. - Kaynine
I am not disagreeing with either coaches method. Each person and player are different and you need to know what to do with each of them. I do however disagree with the coddled youth theory. I manage a crew of guys a lot older that me and two of them are total opposites. One I leave to do his job don’t praise his work but when he f@cks up he hears it. The other if I push him or don’t give him a pat on the back he breakdown mentally loses confidence etc. It’s the same in the millennial generation and the only difference is there is more of the latter coddled type. |

Hey I have to go out and pick up supplies, but sh1t, i’m worried that someone might be using a handheld device and run into me. Or the store may be out of the items I require, or there could be a traffic jam that holds me up for another appointment. My truck might get a flat tire, and make me late for my sisters wedding, I might spill my latte on my myself and get burnt....so many things to worry about.
Hockey players contracts 3-4 years from now isn’t one of them. So much despair with Canucks fans. - Makita
Lol Canucks fans have it so hard |

Do you like hearing the praises? - Kaynine
I don't need praises because I am secure but it makes me appreciate the company's effort.
The owner is my age and I joke with him all the time. We were at a party once and having a couple of beer throughout the evening and when we were leaving so he gives my wife a big hug. I told him " Back off old man , anything you start I need to finish. Take two steps back" |

when I speak of coddled youth, I’m referring to today’s youth, not millennial’s. I coach minor hockey with no kids on the team and I have to treat these kids a lot different then I did 10 yrs ago. Parents today coddle their kids way too much. |

Hahaha!
I agree, when someone does a good job it’s nice to hear it, whether they need it or not. |

Am I the only one that thinks Palmu deserves to be with the top 2 groups for the scrimmage today? |

You are in the military correct? Laughing at organizational strategy makes me think you aren't very good at your job. What if you got a flat tire? Would you simply stand by the side of the road with your Richard out and wait for someone to help you? Or maybe you would just keep driving, and ruin your wheel and tire.
I never suggested fans should worry, nor did I say I was worried, I said that not considering the future is short sighted. |

I don't think Palmu will be on the radar at camp. He will be noticed during the year when they look up and see he has 28 goals in Utica
My three wish list players to make the team aside from EP are
Gaudette
Dahlen
Leipsic |

Yeah I agree he won’t be there for the start of the season, but I though he deserved a look against the main group. I am most intrigued to see what that Pettersson line with Goldobin and Baer will look like, has the potential to produce. |

IMO the Sven Goldobin Pettersson combo is a competition to see which one or two stand out for the top 6 . I can't see them looking at that as a line combo.

Maybe they have, I wasn't even talking about the Canucks specifically. I was only responding to NH (and I guess now Makita), that not considering what's next is a mistake. So saying who cares anout a contract tomorrow when it's today is a short sighted way to do business.
I bet Benning has thought about it, which makes him smarter than Hawksey and Keeter put together. |
