If/once Seguin signs, if you are Gorton, do you make a run at Panarin or hope he makes it to free agency?

Seguin, eight years, $9.85 mil AAV. With no state taxes in Dallas, contract worth a lot more than that per season.

So the plan now has to be: stink this year, draft a center, sign Panarin & Karlsson, success to follow.

Well technically they could be good this year, still draft a center and sign both Panarin and Karlsson. So cup it is

Per Dreger as Ek mentioned: Sounds like San Jose is making a huge push to land Erik Karlsson.

They most likely won't land one. Hank was our star, have to wait another 10 years to get another one

San Jose may be making a push to land Erik Karlsson in order to prevent him from heading to Vegas this time for real.
Dreger said yesterday on TSN that word he heard in Ottawa was that he would be moved sooner than later, and possibly in "a day or two". He also added that Vegas could be his destination due to them "willing to include in any deal, something(s) that they weren't willing to at last year's trade deadline, with one player specifically mentioned being Shea Theodore.
The questions, however, would be if Vegas does so, if that would prevent Bobby Ryan's contract from having to be included in any proposed deal now to acquire Karlsson. But in addition, regardless if Ryan doesn't have to be included, the Knights roster would be squeezed for cap space for the 2019/20 season, despite the cap expected to rise again. That's due to both Karlsson likely then being paid long term at least $11M per season, and due to three key players having expiring contracts next Summer, in forward Alex Tuch, d'man Nate Schmidt, (who could be traded if Karlsson lands there long term), and center William Karlsson.

That series probably bothered me the most of any series loss. Even more than the LA SCF one. It just seemed destined LA would win, the Ottawa one they should have won hands down.
