The once proud Senators organization. Does nothing now but grovel their lame exscuses and made up answers to cover their ineptness. Truly an organization that has become a hallmark of what not to do...

At this point . I say just trade for picks and prospects, nothing elss.overpay some people to get to cap floor. Buy some contracts of injured players

That would work well for me.

Not as well as deal with Dallas involving Hiskenan...but, still very good. Still say that the last two teams in the bidding are Tampa and Nashville (3 way with Edmonton).

From Bob MacKenzie:

"Stop me if you have heard this before — and you have — but there’s been a decided increase in Erik Karlsson trade talk over the last 24-48 hours with the obvious goal of trying to get it done before OTT hits the ice for training camp."

It was pointed out that we've heard this every time there was a "deadline". First it was the Trade DL, then it was the draft, then it was July 1.

I think Dorion has known his deal right from the beginning and it involves Tampa. I think there was a false alarm the end of June where a Tampa deal was going to be announced. Reports were that Sergachev was the key piece coming back. I would not be surprised that we will find nothing has changed and the Tampa trade will go forward as originally discussed. Perhaps everything over the summer is merely feeble window dressing trying to improve the image of team management.

Either way, IF these rumors are to be believed, the more teams interested (San Jose, New Jersey), the better.

Even if the Sens are desperate, if enough teams are interested, that ceases to be as big an issue.

A market exists where you have more than one bid. In a fair market, value is determined by the bids alone. But timing also influences markets. If the time is not right, delay.

The gang that could not shoot straight.

Problem is some people actually think that this team is close to being a contender. They don't see what is happening in their rear view mirror. Ottawa, Florida, Tampa and Columbus have put together really strong development programs. All of them have top notch young talent that are beginning to break through at the NHL level. Montreal is in good shape as is Boston in terms of having strong development syystems. Pittsburgh and Philadelphia have elite talents that will keep them in the mix. The teams that are going to hit a huge wall are the Leafs, Capitals and Detroit. I am not sure about the Rangers, I keep believing they will stumble but am surprised that they are able to get good player out of their system. Carolina is ambiguous. The Islanders will likely remain the Islanders.

I still have to listen to you kool aid drinkers trying to pretend they have accomplished something and are on the verge of greatness. Wake up. The actual performance of the Leafs has been pathetic. There is no evidence that can reasonably assure us that anything is going to change next year.

My favourite summer headline from a couple of years ago was "Wendell Clarkson." But, I think this year is the best overall for the blue kool aid. It seems everyone is going all in and more and more people are talking Stanley Cup. Once again we will be hearing Elvis singing to Leaf nation about a Blue Christmas.

It's not bad. The picks are numerous. The prospects aren't as high end as they would've wished but solid (don't know much about Balcers). Can't believe they didn't demand Merkley being involved.
Don't think they scored a Heiskanen or Foote.
It was decent but not a Home Run trade, altohugh most could see they weren't going to get a Home Run trade.

Edit: Spatso and Maverick will be happy though.

Avs got more for Duchene than the Sens got for Karlsson.

How is that even possible?

Even the Patches trade is close to this....

Montreal got a high end prospect in return.

Ottawa received number 3 and 4 on a average prospect pool, a late 1st and a 2nd.

Demelo is half decent though

This thread is for Sens fans discussing their team. Not for Leaf fans wanting to do team comparisons. I know you miss me but it is time for everyone to move on. If your up drinking in the middle of the night and looking for help, send me a private message. I am flattered by how you all repost and discuss my old tweets nearly a year after the fact.

I promise i will do my annual leaf evaluation and post it on the forum in a couple of months. I hope you and your son are continuing to enjoy your weekend outings. But, remember, it is important to take care of yourself. Go to bed, get some sleep and see if things are not better tomorrow.

On some list Norris is rated number 1.
On another list Balcer is rated number 2.
