That would be good exept it will just cause the team to relocate. Dont think for a second that a Canadian Market will get the Arizona\Phoenix treatment from Bettman.
- xShoot4WarAmpsx

jesus (frank)ing christ......people who talk about relocation need to learn about the business and economics of the NHL....like really, even a little bit.

you guys just sound like idiots when you say poop like that. what does moving the team solve? you have the same broke ass num nuts owner, just in a different city, who's now millions of dollars more in debt after paying to move the team. and i didn't even mention the hundreds of millions of dollars of free money that the owners would lose for voting to relocate as opposed to expanding.

The problem I see on this thread is the idea that a new owner solves everything.

I think people should remember that the population on HB daily is nowhere near representative of the general hockey fan. People here are far more engaged with their team.

I don't believe that the Sens not filling the building in the SC semi-finals had anything at all to do with Melnyk. Hell, I bet a lot of current and potential Sens fans couldn't even name the owner of the team.

When Melnyk goes, the organization should improve over time, top to bottom, but it doesn't automatically mean fans immediately start filling the arena.

Slavin - Hamilton
de Haan - Pesce
Fleury - TVR

Faulk and picks going to be traded to the Sens for Duchene.

There are rules in place preventing a relocation of the franchise. I'm not sure what they are though. Just take my word for it.

I think everyone in the NHL (including other owners and Bettman) realize that Melnyk is a cheap ass moron who is not dedicated to winning. The obvious reason ticket sales are down is because of Melnyk. Remove Melnyk and you'll see a reinvigorated fan base who will start coming back to games.

corporate sponsorship is key, you go to a market place that you have a strong corporate sponsorship that starts to absorb season ticket sales, marketing ventures, box suites, etc.....you can cover up a lot of warts fiscally a franchise might have

i don't think anyone (atleast anyone who isn't a giant homer) is saying it solves everything........i think what people are saying is that you can't start to solve ANYTHING until melnyk is gone

As much as I am tired of this poop show and tired of having Melnyk as an owner, I am still looking at getting a 10 game package with a friend. Available seats are quite good!!!

Melnyk is the owner and only failure to meet payroll would force Melnyk out. A $25M US drop in payroll would cover a ton of season tickets so that strategy is unlikely to force him to sell. With a lower payroll I believe that Melnyk would also qualify for some league subsidies.

In the end, I do want to support the next group of players who will wear the uniform. There are 6 to 8 prospects who appear to be a lock to be 200+ NHL game professionals.

Yeah the other starting point would be the arena location. I don't have first had experience but it sounds like it is a real problem?

I am convinced Melnyk is just Joaquin Phoenix playing a character for a mockumentary to be made about owning a pro sports team.
- forbetterorWORSE

It seems who ever came up with the infamous spartan presentation is still with the team.
- david22

Putting these two thoughts together, perhaps someone could dress Melnyk up as Commodus on opening night, invite him to say a few ill-conceived words at centre ice, and then unleash the playoff spartan to publicly dispose of him.

You'd get Super Bowl prices on Stub Hub.

For many years the Sens have been top 10 in the league in attendance and for several years they were top 5. They have one of the best local tv deals and they operate a cornerstone charitable fund raising operation in Ottawa with millions of dollars invested in a broad range of projects.

Later in this month the LeBretton Group have a meeting with the National Capital Commission to finalize the financial details on the redevelopment project. The LeBretton partners are committing $7b to the building of thisand adjacent projects.

If the current group does not complete the project there are two other groups who have publicly committed to an outright buy of the Sens to make it happen.

We are told the financing has been completed. So, think about a business plan for a move downtown (likely in three years). Do you want to go in with an aging team that you are trying to hold together. Or, do you want to be coming with youthful team with a great future. If you wrote this up as an MBA case study, the Sens are following the right path.

Depends. If you've changed your stance after trolling Leafs fans for the last 2 years, I imagine you've answered "youthful team with a great future". However, if you haven't changed your stance since 2017, I imagine you've answered "aging team that you are trying to hold together".

Really! My primary complaint against the Leafs was their refusal to rebuild over many years.

Quite true the 90% of hockey fans arent aware of the social media or care about the outcry. It only registers once in awhile for a fleeting moment... i personally miss those days. New ownership wont change much.. a new arena will. Its becoming insufferable the outcry of 10%. Melynks here to stay so he says. Get use to it.

I have been strong supporter of the Shanaplan since day 1. Have not been a fan of Leaf media or Leaf fans engaging in triumphalism even before the season starts. I am well aware that the Leaf faithful have already begun the Stanley Cup parade. I will no doubt have a chance to comment before next June comes about.

I realize that Leaf fans miss me dearly. However, I was politely asked to stop picking on you guys in the forum thread and I simply complied with the request.

I do appreciate your continuing your mythical communications with me. It is nearly 10 months since I last posted on the Leafs/Sens forum and I delight in you guys conjuring up my thoughts from old posts as discussion themes.

Perhaps, I will return to the forum on the 1 year anniversary of my last post.

Correction it is Leaf fans laughing. The Leafs are about the worst defensive team in the league. The Sens are the about the best.

Leafs are giving up 4 goals a game. The Sens are giving up 2 goals a game.

The Leafs do not have a steady veteran presence like Phaneuf that can provide some leadership in the defensive zone.

You realize the Sens start to the season has occurred without Karlsson in lineup.

It is a statistical reality that Phaneuf logged the most ice time of any Sens player in a 6-1 win.

What part of Sens fans being very pleased with this start do you not get?

Great playoff run last year.

Huge injuries coming into camp.

Solid start. Always about scoreboard.

There are no style points in hockey.

I would like to officially announce my status as a UFA hockey fan.

i am now entertaining offers from any and all teams not playing in Ottawa.

good locker room guy, lots of fan intangibles, good 2-way cheerer.....only a moderate homer. sometimes susceptible to trolls, but quick to recover.

looking for low salary, but long term

please make me an offer

- sensarmy_11

What are your salary structure demands? Are you cool getting paid over the course of a year or do you need all of your money on the 1st day of the season?
