Drafting is a given, not hard to pick great prospects when you draft 5-5-7. Other than the Dahlen trade most have been pretty blah or bordering on terrible. Development, Boeser, Gaudette and Pettersson chose not to sign and further develop on their own timeline, so who has Benning developed other than Demko? Utica was terrible last year except for Demko. You like Eriksson?

Sorry, just won't ever see what you see, but like I said, things appear to be getting better from these poor finishes and the Dahlen trade appears to be a clear win for Benning.

- LeftCoaster

Don't get me wrong, it has not been perfect. But this year Utica better be good with all the benning drafts coming over. If not, huge fail.

He has:
- got a 2nd for Garrison
- got dorsett for a 3rd
- sven for a second (still good value)
- second for KB (not in NHL anymore)
- looking at sutter trade, not bad anymore really (signed for too much though)
- granlund def better then shink
- burrows for dahlen = clear win
- hansen for goldy was a win, hansen not even in the NHL anymore
- DP for pedan + 4 = win evenn if bottom pairing guy, still upside
- BL for holm (still better)

Theres bad ad nutrals moves but all of this is good. Then add in the drafts....

This organization is now filled with people/players that Benning has brought in so this is his team for sure now.

Only leftovers are Horvat, Tanev, Markstrom Edler, Hutton and the mighty Gaunce. And Benning signed Tanev, Markstrom, Hutton and Gaunce to their current deals.

So really Edler is the only Gillis contract left.

We'll see how it goes this season at all levels (NHL, AHL, prospects).

McQuaid to the Rags

Even though he's slow, he's a tough SOB and an OK bottom pairing dman.

Hes gudbranson, but hits and fights and actually gets pucks to the net, but is still a pretty bad dman.

He's got a more natural mean streak than EG, he's probably one of the tougher players in the entire NHL

Mcquaid = 16 fights in his last 3 seasons, had 13 one year in the AHL and 12 one year in the NHL

Gudbranson = 7 fights in his last 3 seasons, career high is 7 in the NHL

Same here

Mainly because McQuaid fills the "protection" role better and I don't think either of them have the ability to be top 4 dmen in today's game so why not get the guy who's more willing to (frank) someone up

First of all keep in mind I did say IN THE LAST TWO YEARS.

I like the draft picks.
I like the trades.
I like the development.
I like their farm system.
I like their UFA signings.
I like that the entire group is heading in the same direction.
I like the scouting.
I Like Brackett and Johnson.
I like the mixture of youth protected by the new group of vets.

Benning has gaffes like every single GM in the league but the past few years have been promising. Boeser, Pettersson, Demko, Gaudette, Dahlen, Hughes, Juolevi, and a few others all Benning. Kinda reminds me where the Jets were 2-3 years ago before Scheifelie, Wheeler and Laine really took hold.

It will be interesting to see who Benning takes at 9-10 next draft though. Gonna be a bit of a tougher pick. Try to find another Horvat-Style player maybe like Gillis did. Full marks for Gillis on that pick and trading Schneider.

Only I am the true believer in Gudbransen. I have had his back from the moment we traded for him. I don't appreciate your sarcasm. I would keep Guddy over McFly.
