The Star Wars EU is MUCH better than the stuff Disney's put out, for sure there is some crap mixed in (the Yuuzhan Vong mostly), but for the most part it's really good and really explains the origins of Lando, Han and the rest better than that crappy ass Solo movie.

Lefty and I are running a hockey pool on Yahoo this year for the regular posters here. Settings are as follows:

2 C
2 LW
2 RW
4 D
1 UTIL
2 Goalies
3 Bench Spots
2 IR+ spots

Stats are: Goals, Assists, Points, PP Points, Shots, PIM, Hits

For Goalies: Wins, GAA, SV% and Shutouts


3 Keepers per year(but you lose the same round draft pick next year for the keeper you pick)

Examples:
McDavid or Crosby as a keeper means no 1st round pick next year for your team.

Horvat in the 5th round as you keeper means you lose your 5th round pick next year.


So far we're at 12 teams, we're capping this at 16 teams so there's only 4 spots left.

Draft will most likely be a weekday night.

I agree it would have been better, and smarter really, to do like a TV show using some of the EU stuff. Because it is way too much content other wise IMO, but man that would have been sweet. They still may, but it seems like they are not interested in this route. What they really need is to bring in some new blood to the writing room IMO, the new novels and scripts just don't have enough talent and imagination. I'd get some badass author like Sanderson to exec. produce it and bring in some serious epic-scale writers. At this point, the expanse is much, much better sci-fi world. But Ihave faith SWU can turn it around, helps when you have a ridiculous budget.

Budget doesn't always make it better, see the crappy ass DC movies, even Wonder Woman was a hit despite itself. Truthfully, you need the studios to butt out, if you want to get a really good movie nowadays. Heck with all the crap going on with big Hollywood directors getting fired for comments made years and years ago on Twitter. I have little faith that Disney-Lucasfilm will get Star Wars right until they realize what made the original trilogy work so well (and it wasn't cramming in characters for the sake of diversity or doing the story of New Hope over again or rewriting history with the most popular non-Jedi character ever).
