No, Ghost wasn’t covering anyone...BUT Tavares worked Couturier on the play. A blind man can see this. Play the puck, not the man. That highlight play was never about Bailey’s goal, it was the work Tavares put in to get the puck to Bailey.
It’s pretty basic hockey, which you refuse to see. - SuperSchennBros
Its always about the goal. For all the work Tavares did to SC, he wasnt a threat, he was up against the boards. Ghost lost his man. If hes with him, then he breaks up the pass.

Not to be a loon but I swear I’ve always heard “play the man, not the puck”. - flyer_nutter
Yup, and there was no way Tavares was getting to the net. Don't get me wrong though, Tavares was awesome on that play but the Flyers weren't in danger of him scoring from there. The goal was on Ghost. |

And then we wouldn't have to see that highlight every time Tavares is talked about. |

Because the moment Coots played the man and ignored the puck, it gave the puck carrier an opportunity to make the play that he did. Nobody is marveling at Bailey’s easy tap in on that play. |

If Ghost has his man there is no pass to be made and it never happens. The pass was a slam dunk, no skill involved, he was wide open, Brayden Schenn could have made that pass.

Ghost was NEVER covering his man. Ghost was never anywhere near his man. The top pair number one defenseman by the standards of most of you allowed Bailey to freely skate from the net, to the blue line and back to the net again on that play but one of the basic golden rules when you don’t have the puck, is to play the puck and not the man. Tavares and Couturier were both in a one on one battle and guess what? One of them had to lose it. I’ll give you a wild guess on who that man was the moment he played his man with his ass fully confident that he had his man dead to rights but didn’t... |

Question for you. In the upcoming 18/19 season, do you think that every player capable of playing in the NHL will be playing in the NHL? - MJL
Every player? No.
A specific player that played in 160 of a possible 164 games over the previous two seasons who is 30 or younger? Barring injury, yes, I would expect that he would garner more than a training camp PTO as a UFA. |

Okay. So one of the best players in the league made a good play on him, and Ghost blew coverage. The 2 resulted in a goal. And????? |

only saw the og and that was enough for me
they basically took the same characters from "the other guys" and changed the plot to something much worse |

I think that's misguided. Looking at what kind of player Vadevelde was, how many available players are equals to the level of player that Vandevelde was, and how few spots are available for a player of that caliber, it's not at all a surprise.
Using the fact that Vandevelde did not get another NHL job after leaving the Flyers to push the narrative that he was not a legitimate NHL player is not valid in my opinion. |

In my day, it was play the man, don't know what they teach now. The puck can't shoot itself into the net. Guys that played the puck often looked like fools. |
