I agree. My point was that Hextall plays his cards close to the chest... He will respond to questions with a "political" answer, not what he believes. Like BiggE said, you have to read between the lines. But, I think the fans in general (me included) - want to hear Hextall say that rookie player X is a lock.. And, it will never happen. - leon neon
I don't think Hextall does that at all. I just think he only gives so much. I think Hextall was pretty clear in his comments regarding Frost.
I do agree that Hextall saying a player is a lock will never happen. Why would a GM send that message to a young player even if he was? |

There are some exceptions. I can't imagine anyone as a GM saying in the summer of '92 "well we are certainly going to give that Lindros kid a shot to make the team, but it all depends on how he does in camp"

Who would ask a GM if a player like Lindros was going to make the team? Everyone knew that he was going to.

I can't imagine that any GM would hesitate in saying that either of McDavid or Matthews weren't locks in their rookie years. |

I don't think Bellemare magically changed his game last year. It's amazing how much better a player can look when he's playing with legit NHL players. - jmatchett383
I don't think Belly was the problem with that line |

Easy solution: Trade them all, and whatever first round picks are required, for Weber. |

Never was, always passed the eye test. His numbers from 14-16 with the Flyers are pretty much identical to what he did last year with Vegas. |

With less than a month to go now, this is how I expect the Flyers to line up for the opening game.
Giroux-Couturier-Konecny
JVR-Patrick-Voracek
Lindblom-Weal-Simmonds
Lehtera-Laughton-Raffl
Leier, Weise
Provorov-Ghost
Hagg-MacDonald
Sanheim-Gudas
Folin - Feanor
Who's better, Gudas or Folin? Neither are offensive superstars... I don't know Folin's game, but I assume he may have the edge on puck handling, but Gudas is better hitter - and they are a push with defense?

Gudas, for most of his career, has been a solid 2nd pair defensive Dman with ok skills. Folin, OTOH, is a generic 6/7 guy who is basically comparable to the struggling Gudas we saw last year. Even if Gudas only somewhat bounces back, he's a better player than Folin.
Honestly, I'm hoping that by some point this season, Myers can beat them both out.

The Gudas of last year was significantly worse than the Gudas of his first two seasons here. Gudas is certainly better now, and much better if he bounces back |

Didn't he stay up right till bitter end last year?
He does have some chemistry with Sanheim.

We haven't really talked much about Folin as he has been targeted as 7th guy from beginning. |

The point I was trying to make with Carter and Richards is you shouldnât send this sort of message to young players ever. I think we all knew Nolan Patrick was gonna make the team the moment he was drafted but you still have to earn a spot out of camp. |

Borek has taken a lot of heat from of you this summer. I have no idea who this guy is. I canât stand Timmy P. I donât know how some of you ended up here but if you were heee ten years ago, we were commenting on Timâs board before Bill started giving out accurate information. |

Nobody is harping on anything. I was responding and adding to a point that was made, tough guy. Who are you to tell anyone to shut up? |

Dude, you responded like 3 times to the same thing about earning a spot, has management shown anything besides you have to come in and earn a spot? Didn't think so, end of discussion. I'm the Mayor around here boiii. |
