You guys get all a "Wiener Schnitzel" when Cullen scores his 12th of the season - assisted by JJ (25th)! (btw., Wiener = inhabitant of Vienna/Austria)

Also nice, builds men's calves! Must admit i first wrote 15th, but had to gut-correct a little for reality... Btw., just saw Waidring has 2019 inhabitants...
Sullivan was heard bullish about Sprong: http://www.post-gazette.c...more/stories/201809070150 Oh, and our prospect team lost their opener in Buffalo at the prospect challenge 4-2 to the Boston Bruins after falling behind 4-0 early, Edit: and their second 6-2 to the Devils. |

His PICPLW* dropped considerably over the summer, he was a 3th liner in that regard in best case... but i have also no doubt that he finds his game again when the season starts.

Conner shut me up a bit today. I don't know if he can keep it up against better teams, but we can stay at contender status with him back there if he even plays at 75% effectiveness of what he did today.
I still think idiot yinzers undervalue Bell and that Conner did what he did because of the O line, but if the O line stays healthy, we should be fine. |

My dad gave me a little backstory on Conner and can't help but cheer for the guy. I mean I understand Bell makes our offense better, but I'd be lying if I said i wasn't happy to see Conner have a good game in the absence of Bell. Of course that tie was a load of poop. |

So strange that Tatar trade for Vegas (to get him not the trade now). I understand wanting to have depth, but there would have been cheaper options that were better for them. Just a complete bust of a trade. But it gets them Patches I suppose. |

Nice overview Rolo , but while it will be still expensive, i'm pretty sure we will at least see Max signed within the next days. As Vegas is liking speedy players as well, my hope is now George pulls the Peter and trades him to us for some package consisting of Hagelin plus whoever he likes and we can afford.

Feds91 really liked what the Wings got , and it was indeed pretty insane. Still, Tatar - while having a disappointing '18 campaign, is at least signed another three years. |

I dont know for sure but a quick google search showed me that his average TOI last year was 11 mins and 54 secs...so Id have to say that he was mostly used on 4th line and PK.
EDIT: if he can pop in 10 (or more) this year and still be solid on the FO's and PK then even the staunchest critics of his signing should STFU.

EDIT 2: I find it interesting though that he got a fair amount more O-zone starts in Minny than he did with Pitts. |

Stating lineup thoughts from Hooks Orpik on Pensburg.com,
Jake Guentzel - Sidney Crosby - Patric Hornqvist
Carl Hagelin - Evgeni Malkin - Phil Kessel
Bryan Rust - Derick Brassard - Daniel Sprong
Matt Cullen - Riley Sheahan - Zach Aston-Reese
I like those lines. 3rd would be a handful for most teams and the fourth is no pushover either. |

That's how I hope things work out with Hagelin and Rust being flipped every now and then depending on who's playing better and line chemistry.
I really think Sprong's best spot to start the season is on the 3rd line with Brassard. It eases him in while still giving him plenty of responsibility. Hope the Brassard on the left wing experiment doesn't last too long. |

I think this is a massive (frank)ing overreaction by Vegas after Tatar disappointed when he came over. Tatar is really good, younger, and on a far more reasonable contract than Max will get after this season (if he even stays at all). I guess if you're the GM and the coach hates a toy you go out and get for him and refuses to play with it, there's not much you can do short of finding a new coach to give it to (and there's no reason to fire Gallant), but this is the type of trade that can set a team back. I feel like if this was the best trade out there for Tatar, there would have been more upside in just keeping Tatar even with the risk that Gallant scratches him on a nightly basis and drives his value down. |
