I mean, he’s pretty good for the Comets. I’d be happy if he was waived and stayed in the organization as depth. Could help out the rookies joining Utica this year.

Fair point. Gaunce is a big body and defensively sound on NHL ice but man he just can't find any way to contribute offensively.

Utica time.

Maybe he should start stuttering - he might actually score a goal (not off his a$$)
- Brooks_Light

Did you know that he has more goals, points, hits, fights, better faceoff percentage, better plus minus and is taller then beagle had at his age? Crazy but true.

I think the Flyers, who are looking for a PK guy, would claim him.
- Reubenkincade

I hope not, his defense acuam would make them a true contender.

is this for real? That's actually pretty interesting. I knew Beagle was a journeymen who paid his dues in the AHL but I assumed he used to fight a decent amount to make a name for himself like most fringe "energy players"

If Hextall claimed him to be a 12/13th forward, I wouldn't mind. Worst case they can just waive him if things don't work out. Flyers could use a defensive forward.

has like 40 points in his last 50 something games in the AHL, putting him on a line with Dahlen and/or Lind could be a good idea.

.@botchford: i think it's more likely that Edler gets traded with Linden gone. I think Benning will be much more likely, now that he's running the ship entirely, to pressure Edler to waive #canucks

Never really thought of that, he might have something there?

So since no one seems to be running a Yahoo pool this year and it's already the start of September, I'm thinking of starting the one I mentioned the other day.

The last one I ran became lopsided and not too fun since we had too many keepers. So this time I'm thinking we just have 3 keepers. And as mentioned before, you would lose a pick in the round the keeper was drafted in. Just to reward GM's who are good at drafting.

So if you keep McDavid then no 1st round pick, and if you keep Horvat you'd lose your 4th round pick next year, etc. Waiver wire pickups as keepers would only cause you to lose your last pick.

Draft would probably be a weeknight at 7PM local time since weekends can be busy and I assume most of us are free on weeknights during this time of the year.

PM me with your email address if you want in or have any questions before joining. First come, first serve. I'm going to cap it at 12-16 teams max depending on interest, any deeper than that gets a little too crazy since there's only 31 teams in the league.

you got to analyze Canuck depth on a bell curve.
- bloatedmosquito

Goalie depth on the team with arguably the worst goaltending in the league, you go me!

NHL totals only, although gaunces 44 in 55 puts his points per game in the ahl as being higher the as well.

Beagle was also a minus player who never scored more then 4 goals in a single season until he was 29.

What does that have to do with the role he was signed here for?

Agree. Plus with the additions to the Nucks roster I'm just not sure where he fits. We already have a slew of 4th liners that are technically better than Gaunce...so playing with Dahlen and Lind would be good and just get Gaunce up here when the injuries hit. And they will.

Quit being so negative, it's merely pointing out that Gaunce only scoring 5 goals last season is irrelevant to his ability to become a valued elite 3LC, just like Jay Beagle.

Way too much has been made of Gaunce or Beagle being anything other than role players. This distraction is the least important thing we should focus on.

I see the D being the biggest curiosity if its as sad as it was last year or a matter of one year later it will settle in much better.

The 2nd scoring line with the new blood is where we all will be watching with an avid focus on big signs of what needs to evolve. Depth scoring would ensue from Sutter Gagner etc etc

The PP & PK are for the coaches to dial in
