I can't say I'll miss him... I remember him having one good year but other than that, he's easily replaceable... I'll take a Tavares over a Leo, Martin and Lou any day... lol
- SofaKingBored

I won't miss him on the 1st pp unit or starting ot.

I know Babschlong is the best and all that but God damn... a few questionable decisions that he repeated over and over... but what do I know?

They took his toys away, so should be less likely to see goof poop like komarov on the pp.

I just read in the other blog that Couturier finally got his first 40+ season... I don't follow the Flyers but damn, I thought he was a bit more of a gamer than that... maybe that's what $4.333 million per buys you now...

What's Kadri making again? heh

Fantastic...

I think his 3 games in the playoffs might have been a game or two too much...

Good to see JVR cash in... in a non salary cap world, the Leafs likely would have kept him... He sure has some slick hands around the net... My only complaint is he's like a big, limp, wet noodle...

Yeah, he's fine with no cap, but too slow and one-dimensional for the $ and term.

Because people still think toughness wins you a cup. It's outdated horsebleep. We have John freaking Tavares added to the tream.
- RogerRoeper

Remember when people said we could have beat Boston if we had more toughness?
Remember when we lost to Boston before that with Orr AND McLaren? Did we need even more toughness then also or..?

On toughness:

Call it what you want. In the playoffs skilled and tough players crank there game up to a whole other level. Syd Crosby is a good example. We know what he brings. Phil kessel may have played injured in playoffs as he was a no show. Leafs number 29 was a no show in playoffs otherwise a pretty good player in regular season

Do leafs have enough players wether skilled or tough in regular season that can crank it up in playoffs? I don’t know. That’s what will win the cup players that can crank their level up

Read a convincing article on the Athletic..small sample size but he’s been good in the games he has played.

Him and Ennis will battle for a spot.

- Santo_44

People say he's a career AHL'er (lookin at you Fake) but 22 points in 57 games in which a lot of his minutes were limited is not that bad.
He has stuck it out long enough to earn more time IMO. Play him consistantly til the deadline if shows he can at least keep up. If he's not enough of an asset to take into the playoffs, trade him then.
He's a big body with a good shot that can be utilized on the PP.
Ennis is faster, but I doubt any more useful.

Not true at all. You said skilled AND tough. And if that's the criteria, then neither Martin nor Komarov apply. That's fair.
On the other end of that, that means Marner and Kessel also don't apply. Kessel is a beast in the playoffs, and he's not tough. Marner was our best player in the Boston series. Also not tough.
Sounds to me like talent helps you win, not toughness.

Edit: I do agree that good players find ways to elevate their game in the playoffs and that's important. I believe our team has enough guys to do it.

I did not say skilled and tough to describe one player. I merely stated that there are tough players and those players that do not exhibit toughness at all but are more skilled. Do you know how to read?!

This

It's just goofy to talk about tough players and then talk about the best player in the game.

Not a bad response for a guy who can't read.
Tell me, just so I'm sure I read it right, he did say Kessel was a no show in the playoffs right?
