I got ask about two guys, I don’t know anything about them and who are there comparables? Kahun &Sikura?What is the realistic expectation of these guys going forward. Can any of them be counted on for 15 to 20 goals this year?

I’m just wondering if guys including myself are underestimating some of this roster, these kids could be fast as hell where no one can catch them , Is there a potential for something like that?

In a previous blog, I had:

* Dylan Sikura - 13 goals
* Dominik Kahun - 6

I'd be happy with 13 goals from Sikura. I am super hopeful that Kahun will do well, I think he'll match Sikura's output.

I’m kind a hoping for one of these guys to turn out half as good as Panerin Or maybe even a Steve Larmer type.

Obviously the front office is probably keeping some stuff a secret, or they have optimism with this group going into the season.
There has not even been one whisper of any players being invited on a PTO as of yet

Wouldnt it kind of go without saying to want a prospect to turn out as good as Steve Larmer?

Amazing insight. You may have dethroned Wiz and others with their useless facts and statistics. Keep coming back, the board needs people like you

The ratings are just for fun, but a laughable joke that one of his worst ratings is for Faceoffs with an 85, when it was probably one of the lone bright spots in his game still last year.

6th overall with a faceoff percentage of 58%

bergeron was 57.3% for 7th and he got a 95 rating for faceoffs

Getzlaf with a 89 faceoff score, he was 47.8% last year

Any word on possible pto signings trade conversations going on? Something like 6 weeks until the regular season starts and no additions besides the ones on July 1st.
Still missing top 6 forward top 4 damn and Crow's status still up in the air, what is the plan?

If Nalimov has a consistent season in the KHL this year and puts up somilar numbers than his name will be coming up a lot (maybe even leading the charge) as a possible #1 replacement.
- Justin Lowe

That's what I was thinking -- the guy had earlier requested a trade this off season then (and not right away really) -thought it over, and decided he was ok where he was (basically Hawks with his playing rights).

Mostly I only pay attention to SKA (and even then not as much as I would like to) ---need to start paying more attention to a few other teams with interesting players instead of finding out guys like Cam Barker are over there...

You aren't finding either with a PTO. Just a washed up vet who takes time away from a kid with potential

He is neither a Top 6 player or top 4 D-man. Hawks have plenty of options for bottom 6 centers. He is just a guy. There is a reason no one has signed him

Fair points couldn't hurt he is better on faceoffs than smaltz and AA. The only way hawks get top 6 forward or top 4 d man is to give up smaltz dcat or skirua maybe murphy also.

No word on my end Scott.

I heard they were kicking tires on Brouwer. Maybe they only were interested in bringing him back on a PTO vs. Dale's 1-year contract.

There may be a couple PTO invites (they've done that the last few years) but I think the current roster might be what we see in October.

Plus, AA could play on line 2 with either him or Schmaltz being C/LW.

Top 6 of:
Saad-Toews-ADB
AA-Schmaltz-Kane

Better than the last 2 or 3 years.

AND...if he doesn't work out, his contract should be able to be buried in Rockford.

Thanks it was, Scott!

Yep. The waiting game has been tough this summer but we're almost there. I'm excited to see some hockey soon with the Traverse City tournament around the corner.

I believe there will be live streaming through the team sites. There was last year if I recall correctly.

Possible, but I think Anisimov will be on the third line. Not that AA is a start but he will help bring some balance. Ideally both Kahun and Sikura both make the team and contribute offensively, one on the third line and one on the first. But putting your hopes in two rookies like that is risky business.

In my defense, I've been calling for the Hawks to sign Shore for over a month. I think, ideally, AA is on the third line with Sikura on RW for Toews/ Saad. I just don't think Sikura (or Kahun) are ready for top 6. I think a one year contract for Shore would give the Hawks flexibility.
