Taking several high revenue teams off the list only limits the number of teams bidding on the player.
Even if he has no intention of going to teams (north or south), he still wants the perception that he'll go anywhere to drive up the price for the teams that are really in the running.

From what I've seen of him this year, he does pass and shoot but I think he prefers to shoot, although he's made some sick passes to team mates. I think that is why people are advocating splitting him and Boeser up 5v5.

Hopefully Pettersson can transition to center by the trade deadline and Gaudette has a good year in Utica so they can take over the top nine center spots with Horvat. That pushes Sutter out the door for what I hope is a 2nd round pick.
