Problem is the refs took a few games to let that sink in, and Naz took more games than he would've if it happened in game 6 or 7.

Even if you're going to blame the referees for everything, you can't control the referees. So if the referees are going to let things go (not going to change any time soon by the way), why not capitalize on that and get some more players who play on the edge? If they're going to get away with it in the playoffs, might as well take advantage of it.

What Kadri did is a suspension in Game 1 or in Game 7. It was stupid. The Bruins were tip toeing on the line, Kadri got pissed off and crossed it. The game changes in the playoffs and you need players that need to be smarter. Kadri will learn from it but he got what he deserved.

Yzerman was an intelligent player which allowed him to become a great all round player. Bowman convinced him to apply that talent to the defensive side of the game as well but he didn't teach him how to be smarter, he was already a smart player. I don't see Ritchie having that level of hockey IQ and I don't think it can be coached into him. Hockey IQ is a natural talent in itself.

Hockey IQ can be a natural talent. Doesn't mean it can't also be learned. This idea that a player can't become a smarter player is completely asinine. Some players learn hockey innately, the majority learn it, just like everything else people learn how to do. Depending on how much a person cares and how much proper direction they get can definitely improve a players hockey IQ. There's little to no reason to believe a 22 year old player can't improve on his hockey IQ with the right coach and linemates. Most players in the NHL are smarter at 30 than they were at 20 if they lasted that long and it's because they got smarter along the way.

Tide removes stains... and people who should have been stains.
