We get to watch a Leafs team with two legit 1Cs

Imagine going back to the Wilson/Carlyle/Horacek/Burke/Nonis/Weirdoh era version of yourself and being able to tell them that.

Crazy stuff.

plus they are super soft. The team is young and has little to no defense or muscle. Great reg season team but will struggle real bad come playoff time. Love JT but he is one of the worst defensive forwards and soft as hell.

So butthurt

How can you honestly say that with any hockey knowledge at all.

- nbboy

Also, "little to no defense".

Yet, the Leafs allowed less goals than Tampa, who is "super totally awesome defensively".

I still can't even believe any of it.

Not just two legit 1Cs...two legit top ten in the league Cs...

I still think I went into some kind of psychogenic fugue just before the so-called Clarkson trade supposedly happened. This is all some kind of wet dream.

That gutty character is just another (frank)in' balloonhead, (frank)ing butthurt jagoff gonna really not enjoy what's gonna go down this season as the Leafs decapitate the league and (frank) it in the neck stump

Not just 2 legit 1c.... 3 of only 10 centres in the whole league to score at least 30 goals in each of the last 2 years.

Yeah...and in case of injuries down the middle they can shift over Nylander and Marleau to centre if they have to...

Just like what Babcock said about Tampa, he likes teams that have lots of guys who can play centre, playing guys who can play centre on the wing just like team Canada has to do...

Kadri is going to absolutely unleash a shawarma-fueled hellfire on the weak comp he faces if JT and Matthews take the tough matchups.

It's really a gross matchup problem for teams, up there with Sid/Geno/Phil...imagining what Marner and Johnny Toronto are gonna get up to together makes me swollen and leaky.

If Brown can continue to improve and Johnsson continues to go to the net the way he has, should be good.

I heard kadri will still get the matchup.

It's amazing to think of Matthews and Tavares getting the left overs. Or that one of Matthews/Tavares get the matchup (especially on the road) and the other one and kadri get to run roughshod over the others.

I'm still at a loss as to how Ritchie is a better playoff player than Andreas Johnson. The only stat Ritchie seems to do well in come playoff time is racking up pim. Whereas didn't Johnson just dominate the ahl playoffs and look pretty good in the Boston series?
- mykokes

Because the AHL is not the NHL and while Johnsson has been fighting just to be a 4th liner, Ritchie has been in the NHL for longer, at a younger age.

Also, we're talking about two different styles of player who bring different tools to the table.

What Johnsson brings to the table, the Leafs already have 6 better versions of. There is nothing that Johnsson does that can't be replaced by Kapanen or any other speed and skill top-six forward we already have.

What Ritchie brings to the table is power and size without giving up the skill. What he needs is more development and the right environment to become an effective tool. I'd rather have a line with Ritchie, Tavares and Marner than Johnsson because what Johnsson does is already done by Tavares / Marner. It's adding a different dimension to the lines and the team overall.

It's the same idea of trading Nylander for Karlsson. The Leafs already have Matthews, Marner and Tavares but have pure garbage on the RHD and no legit top pairing, world class defender. You are trading a surplus in one area to fill a deficient in another.
