Depends on his health. If Carey can stay healthy and recapture that Hart winning form, maybe not. That's the gamble with long term contracts that pay hefty sums...the player plays to the best of their ability, and stays healthy, it's a steal. Gets injured, or loses their form, big contracts are an albatross. Time will tell if this a Pacioretty-like great deal, or a DiPietro disaster.

That won't be a problem for a few years.

there's absolutely no way Habs end up winning the Pacioretty situation.
they won't have a decent return if they trade him, they won't sign a good contract if they extend him, they'll get nothing if he walks.... any way you look at it, they're (frank)ed.
tks Mr. Bergevin!

- fidopro

Losing the least by trading him is the more accurate term then.

All of those records you showed don’t say best of all-time to me, they really get summed up by the minutes played record.

Price is a good goalie but Roy carried decent teams to cup wins, and Plante was spectacular as well.

Brandon argued Price is better than Roy, which is far more dubious.

“The Plekanec trade with the Maple Leafs is the gift that keeps on giving. Not only did the Canadiens acquire an NHL ready D man in Valiev and a 2nd round pick that ended up being a steal in the talented, large, two way Center Jacob Olofsson but they turned what ended up being the weakest part of the return in Kerby Rychel into the 23 year old Hunter Shinkaruk in a trade today with the Calgary Flames.”

This may be the most homerific paragraph I’ve ever seen

Valiev blows, if he’s in your lineup your team sucks.

Teams passed on Oloffson for a reason...it’s not a steal because Montreal picked him.

Lastly, no stats show Shinkaruk is better...in fact if you look at the stats, Rychel is better.

It’s irrelevent because they both won’t be anything useful in the NHL

if you go through his entire 11 year career, you count 4 really good, full seasons of goaltending. the other seasons range from incomplete to mediocre to terrible. and his career numbers are average. those good seasons get amplified because in most of them he literally carried this team on his back.

i will never understand that contract.

He's a good goalie. Not a legend though...and always overhyped by journalists.

They had to hype something about that team, because there is not much to see. Subban was something to watch on the ice, but after that...

Some years he's great, some year he's good and he's been pretty bad at times.

I'm pretty tired of watching a goalie centered franchise.. Theodore, Huet, Halak, Price

I think we all are...

It doesn't work anymore anyway. Who's the last goalie that won a cup almost all by himself? J-S Giguere? Roy? Brodeur?
