That was 4 days ago, things have changed.

That's because we're 3 years closer to being 3 years closer.

Other than teams who won lotteries aka drafted 1oa the success is very thin. The LAK broke that mold but are aging & not nearly a contender. Preds have been building forever & are perennially a PO team. The Jets took ages to become relevant. The Caps the same. That leaves the rest of the pack so we are in large company & still early in the process comparatively. Crunch time is arriving fast.

The future isn’t as dark as it was 5 years ago.

The team should have made a few strides before this year. McCann, Virtanen, Forsling, Demko should have all been there for a year or two now. Just shows that drafting and developing prospect is something that has to be done consistently year after year.

Idc or agree about McCann nor Forsling making any difference. Demko you are wrong on. Developing is not a rush.

They are doing that now.

In a couple of years we will be looking at one or two upgrades a year. We had to rush because for years drafting and development was ignored. They seem like they are close to being back on track

This is confusing. McCann is a bust, forsling is a tweener and Demko isn’t/ hasn’t been ready for the nhl. It’s a bad idea rushing prospects before they are ready

Exactly, the having to rush a few of them hurt the system. Past that now though. Moving forward, showing promise.

I guess if you don't bother to read the back story then you really don't know what you are talking about. Good job.

I guess I can spell it out a little better for you next time.

The point of the post was that Utica should have developed all those players and maybe they would have turned out to be better current NHL players in their first/second seasons.

At the time we had no system after the cup runs. If we did then JV & McCann had no chance to be on the team. Not only was the cupboard totally bare our depth was non-existent. As of now we have the prospects like never before & depth issues is still ongoing. WD wasn’t much for teaching & developing the kids let alone any clue for deployment of vets. Take Miller away & WD was gone faster than he arrived.

So you are saying they should have been developed in the AHL v the NHL. Ok, was confusing

I don't know why It won't let me quote what you are saying but the conversation started from talking about how the Utica Comets team should be taking strides this season with some higher potential prospects being there. So I was saying that the first year players that were drafted should have been developing there and maybe they would of helped out the Canucks team a bit more in the past season or two. Maybe McCann turns out to be a better player. Possibly Van doesn't need to trade for Pullout because Forsling is a call up player. It's a lot of hindsight but rushing those players and taking a few short cuts hurt the development system.

Was more predicated on what marching orders TL & JB were given from FA. IMO FA thought he could milk it out making money & a retool was realistic. He was the only one believing it so.

Don't speak to soon, I can see a PP with Hughes and EP passing the puck back and forth.

If we can do ok on the PP & PK for starters i’d be happy. Let all the kids play & develop & compete for top 6. Trade or waive any vet if kids need the TOI.
