Maybe wake up & realize that todays NHL is all about speed & skill

Tough guys are long gone

Fighting is almost gone from the game

No need for tough guys when the new NHL is like Rat Ice for guys like 88 to dance around & not get hit

- Goalie-33

The game sucks now. You dont have to keep bringing it up

Now's the time for Stan to swoop in an pick-up Kesler. He brings the extact type of grit and face-off prowess this team sorely lacks. Maybe Schmaltz + Sikura for Kesler + 6th?

Saad Toews Cat
X Schmaltz Kane
Kahun AA Sikura
Kunitz Kruger Hayden

I'm still hoping they can acquire another forward!

- SoftServe

I don't think Stan is done, I think he'll acquire another forward the the only question (besides whom) is when.

If I had to guess at the starting line-up based on the currently signed forwards I would have to say:

Toews - Saad - Sikura
DeBrincat - Schmaltz - Kane
Kahun - Anisimov - Hayden
Kunitz - Kruger - Kampf
Martinsen (it pains me to write that)

Keith - Murphy
Gustafsson - Seabrook
Manning - Jokiharju
Rutta

Crawford (if healthy)
Ward
Forsberg (if Crawford isn't healthy)

Ya...I was thinking Stan might also need to throw in Debrincat, Boqvist or Jokiharju too.

Yes but only if Stan gets back a B-level Ducks prospect under 5'9" and 160 lbs.

Ducks don't draft smaller B level prospects. We'll have to throw in a first to get a regular sized one

He's a little heavier than Stan would like but he'll have to do.

Kessler - per Ducks blogger: Now, it’s being reported that he could miss the entire 2018-2019 season, due to continued hip issues that sidelined so much of his productivity last year.

I guess he was right, no human can withstand all that contact

I have a feeling they bring in Brouwer like last minute.
Where would you plug him into your lineup that you just constructed if they do?

Bottom 6, likely the 4th line. I would see Brouwer and Kunitz swapping in and out of the lineup. Then Martinsen wouldn't need to play.

Overall I'm not a fan of bringing back Brouwer, especially since the team already has a Kunitz. Maybe for the league minimum or at least an amount that can be 100% buried in Rockford.

i would put him on the 4th with 3rd spot duty. Q would probably put him with 19 and 20

Q ran him out of town in the first place. Why would he want him back?

I wouldn't. This is not the Troy Brouwer of the 2016 playoffs where he played well enough for a big payday his FA year. This the Troy Brouwer who played so poorly the past 2 seasons in Calgary that they had enough of his "grit" and bought him out.

Ran him out how? Brouwer got himself traded. He was top 6 during the regular season in 2010 but then performed subpar in the playoffs and was worse in the 2011 series. Bickell brought more to that role than Brouwer at a 3rd the price and then went on to be a playoff hero a couple of years later. Brouwer has only had one good playoffs in his entire career during a contract season and has been meh ever since.

I actually liked Brouwer for the most part when he was here but he didn't exactly contribute when they actually needed him to.

Reports out that Handzus is officially retiring. Thought he already did but after his last Hawks season in 2013-14, he played 3 years in Slovakia and sat out 2017-18.

Quenville has already said that he has thought about using Saad-Schmaltz-Kane as the 2nd line. Toews has some chemistry with Debrinkat, so let's assume that is 2/3 of line one. Kahun- Anisimov - Sikura would make up a 3rd line, with Kahun being able to take draws at times instead of Anisimov. Looks like we are in need of a top line winger .... preferably a power forward type

I thought one of his issues - maybe in 2013 - was his father's serious illness - missed a couple of weeks at some point, IIRC.

But - not sure there's any real reason to bring him back. They have Kunitz, plus a lot of youngsters that they want to play. Brouwer is NOT going to be the difference between competing for a Cup (or even a playoff spot) and not competing.

Even on a PTO - the time and resources spent running him out on the ice and evaluating him - I don't see much value.

Not to be snarky, but why was he in the doghouse? Because he either wasn't playing well, or because he wasn't handling his responsibilities within the system.

As much as we all get frustrated by Q, he doesn't make any of these moves out of spite. He does them because he knows what it takes to win and the players aren't (or in some cases can't) doing it.
