Sandin will be better than liljegren - HealthyScratch6
Doubt it. Also, with so many LHD and so few RHD, Liljegren will likely also get more opportunities than Sandin. |

Was just about to say Bracco. He should have great opportunity with the Marlies this year after going on a tear towards the end of last year. I think he'd be great on Matthews' wing eventually.
He was given the career AHLer label like Kapanen so should have a chip on his shoulder. He's so skilled and fun to watch.
My guess would be:
1. Lillybust
2. Johnsson
3. Sandin
4. Bracco
5. Grundstrom - walshyleafsfan
Agreed, I think Bracco will climb the prospect ranks this season. And agree on the top 5 as well. |

I think I'm the only one not sold on Bracco. He has the Timashov feel that I mentioned before. May have some talent but a smallish winger is something we have gluts of. Good trade fodder. |

Let me just state the franking obvious here: Dubas/Hunter/Lou were franking horrible in drafting. Seriously franking horrible.
I'm hoping #1-5 are NHL prospects, because good lord, #6-25 have been franking embarrassing. - Atomic Wedgie
Its really had to say at this point, its not fair to say they have been (frank)ing horrible.
players drafted in 2015 still havent made the jump (after the fist dozen picks).
Also in comparison to all other teams, they look pretty average. again not enough time.
It would appear Hunter was the one big on drafting giant slow players, since Dubas went for skill and didnt care about size.
Cory Pronman is currently doing NHL farm system rankings, the Leafs came in at 19 which is a bit surprising. Thought they would be one of the worst. But we look at everything in a vacuum. you have to look at all the teams and see where they stand

Timo was my pick to be a pleasant surprise a few years ago....gonna stick with that. Ill think he could be an affective 3rd line pest.
But agreed a bracco, but we'll see.
As for the prospect list, how many teams have a far and away better list? So far the leafs have done well with their top picks.

I disagree, Bracco is a better skater and defender by a long shot.

Bracco I agree is better than Timashov, but I still don't think he'd be a benefit to our team overall. What I meant was him, like Timashov, doesn't bring anything helpful to our lineup.
At least guys like Grundstrom and Engvall bring a different dynamic that we lack. |

Bracco > Timashov ... No question.
Bracco may be a "smallish winger," but there's no denying that there's a larger place/role for these types of players in today's game. Not saying that Bracco is comparable, but there are PLENTY of smaller framed guys around the league that are doing quite well.
That said, Bracco is listed at 5'10" 190lbs, that's a pretty solid build for a guy that height. Not really that much smaller than Marner, Nylander or Kadri and comparable to Johnsson.
If Bracco doesn't make the squad it won't be because of size. |

We have Hyman and Brown. Both are similar to Grundstrom.
Bracco is talented, that’s all that needs to be said about prospects. |

Personally, I'm not convinced the talent is there for him to be an impactful NHL player, but that wasn't even my point. We have too many similar styled players, that's all. Between Marner, Kap, Johnsson, and Timashov they all bring the same stuff (although Marner is obviously on a whole other level)
I'd rather bring in some versatility. Engvall, Korshkov is another one.
It should go without saying that they also need to have talent. Size without talent is useless, I'm well aware, which is why I'm not sad to see Polak, Komarov and Martin gone. |

They are all good....that’s what they bring that’s the same. Just because a player is small does not mean they are the same player. They are all extremely different type of players actually. |

I wish we drafted more like Tampa.
They've had 1 player they drafted play in the NHL since 2014. - walshyleafsfan
Might have to look around the league to see some of them....pretty tough to crack that roster the last few years....Peca was drafted late and is now with the Habs for 1.

I agree they all bring slightly different elements/ pros and cons. Extremely different is a bit of a stretch to me, but I won't get hung up on that.
There aren't going to be a lot of roster spots available moving forward so it's going to be fun to see which guys can grind their way to the top. There will be talented players left off the team. |
