if Brady goes down or his arm is as bad as it was Thursday

AFC east is up for grabs

- homiedclown

Seems like we've all been saying something like this for a million years. But we all know Brady will be awesome forever. He'll probably win the Superbowl at 60 years old.

Like Peterman did against SD?
Don’t think he learned much that game except he had A LOT of work to do still

Yes, at some point you need to learn by doing
But you have to be prepared

We’ll see this week
If Allen plays well, he’s the week 1 starter
If not, it’s probably Peterman

- jdfitz77

Peterman was a 5th round pick FFS. Not even in the same ballpark.

I think it’s better to gradually build him up,
than to throw him into the deep end

U think Goff would’ve turned out the same way if he was playing right away week 1 ?
Obviously we don’t know
But the Rams saw value in not rushing his development

Idk why that’s such a hard concept to grasp for some ppl?

Allen isn’t gonna be any worse in the long run if he doesn’t start week 1

- jdfitz77

Jeff Fisher was an awful coach. Goff's underlying numbers aren't great, much like Derek Carr.

Just bc you’re a 1st round pick, or even the #1 pick overall, doesn’t mean you’re “ready”

If mcd thought that's who Peterman is, he wouldn't still be on the team. He also set the table to win the colts game that got us in the playoffs
- jcragcrumple

And McDermott did his level best to cost them the game. That's the thing I'm afraid of. He's, if not the most, then at least top 3, most conservative coaches in the league. He punted the ball away late in the colts game when we needed a win, a tie was as good as a loss.

The Rams took that position with Goff

The Browns & Jets keep saying they’re ok with not starting their top picks right away if they don’t look ready

Aaron Rodgers said he learned A LOT while sitting

Yes, u definitely learn more by doing
But not if you aren’t ready & are just going to be overwhelmed

- jdfitz77

how did flaco and daulton do as a rookie?

the former coach that is here in jacksonville is worse

they lost that patriot playoff game because he ran the clock out in the first half instead of trying to get more points

But none of that is the point

The point is that we should be doing what’s best for Allen long term

Didn’t hurt Aaron Rodgers to sit
He even said it helped him be more prepared when he did get his chance to be the starter

They were “ok” if i remember correctly
But what does that have to do with anything?

Some guys are ready to play right away
Some are not

This isn’t a hard concept here guys

big ben, flacco, and daulton started as a rookie

all made the playoffs the first 2 seasons

big ben 2 super bowl wins in first 5 seasons
flacco 5 straight years and won a super bowl
dalton first 4 years went into the playoffs

Aren't these cases based on an individual preparedness?

Teams who have a farve, Bledsoe, ect

Or teams like the Bill's that have a total of 5 or 6 nfl starts.

Play allen if hes ready, I agree

Do i need to list all the guys who started right away and didn’t do well?

I could do that
But it still won’t have a direct bearing on Allen’s situation
Just like your post doesn’t

tell me 1 player that flopped with the first team, due to starting them too soon and then they thrived when they moved onto the second team and became their franchise qb

most of the ones that flopped, flopped for a reason

they did not cut it to be a franchise nfl qb

ej manuel sucked

I am glad we found out early he sucked

last thing I want is to have to wait 5 years to find out if allen is good or not

if allen sucks, odds are we will have a new coach and gm in 3 years

I’m not saying we do

I’m saying that if he doesn’t start week 1,
that it won’t hurt him long term

Starting him too soon, could... imo

The more prepared Allen is,
the better he will be

Just wanna make sure we develop this kid correctly

You don’t think we should play Dahlin 30min a night right away, do you?

How are flacco and dalton doing now ? If bringing up the 25th and 26th best QB’s in the league is your selling point you need to do much better.

I did this the other day

Steve Young
Teateverde
Rich Gannon
Kerry Collins

Now you tell me...

How does it hurt Allen if he sits for part of this season?
You really think that’ll make or break whether or not he becomes our “franchise” QB?

Because he isn’t at that level yet
This kid didn’t come out of college like Luck or Manning or Elway, etc etc

There’s nothing wrong if they don’t think he’s prepared enough to start right away

That’s not a big deal, at all

Who’d the Rams start ahead of Goff?

Did it hurt Goff to sit?

The 2018 Bills are nowhere near the supporting casts of the Steelers, Ravens, and Bengals had at that time. Flacco’s super bowl win was a fluke. All Raheem Moore had to do was not undercut a Hail Mary and the Ravens are out in the divisional round that year instead of making a miraculous comeback. Still think that Broncos team that year would of won the Super Bowl if their garbage safety did what I could have done.

I laughed so hard when hue Jackson punted on 4th and 1 in a preseason game.

Granted, it was a nice punt
