And, not to pat myself on the back, but I totally called Allen with the first team.
- Wetbandit1

Wow , out of no where too?

Each guy has started 1 time except allen
One guy has a broken collarbone

Scooby doo could have predicted allen getting first team reps

Not necessarily
Look how much better & more prepared Peterman looks now than he did last year

Dahlin is a #1 defenseman
Does that mean we should play him 28min a night to start?

- jdfitz77

Except, he doesn't. He's Trent Edwards, with a weaker arm.

Except I called it last week, before the injury, when Allen was with the 2's and hadn't taken any regular first team reps other than the occasional 2 minute drill. Thanks for playing.

What?
Peterman looks MUCH better than last year

Did u see the Chargers game?

Does he have a high ceiling?
Of course not
I said when he was drafted that he’s likely gonna just be a backup quality player

No one is saying Peterman is the QB of the future for the Bills
At least they shouldn’t be

He shouldn't be the QB of the present either unless Allen somehow totally (frank)s up this week and next. Allen has been on a trajectory to start for 2 weeks now, and if things progress as they have, then Allen should be the starter. The best way to learn is to play.

Like Peterman did against SD?
Don’t think he learned much that game except he had A LOT of work to do still

Yes, at some point you need to learn by doing
But you have to be prepared

We’ll see this week
If Allen plays well, he’s the week 1 starter
If not, it’s probably Peterman

Sp despite having one of the worst games in history, it did almost nothing to his confidence, since he came in this year and looked more prepared?

So what’s the argument against starting Allen?

Bc once Allen is the starter u can’t really pull him out
What if he looks like crap week after week?

I’m sure u didn’t think Peterman should start again after the SD game, right?
He clearly wasn’t ready

Is Allen?
Still to be determined imo

It’s not like i want him to fail
I just think it’ll be better for Allen in the long run if we don’t rush him

Why can’t you? It’s his rookie year. And the only way he’s pulled is if he looks atrocious, which if he looks that bad.... it doesn’t bode well for his future.

I think it’s better to gradually build him up,
than to throw him into the deep end

U think Goff would’ve turned out the same way if he was playing right away week 1 ?
Obviously we don’t know
But the Rams saw value in not rushing his development

Idk why that’s such a hard concept to grasp for some ppl?

Allen isn’t gonna be any worse in the long run if he doesn’t start week 1

One argument for starting peterman imo:

If Peterman struggles, you can put Allen in

If Allen struggles, you can't pull him out. Once he's in, he's in

Says who? Stick to hockey. Your football acumen is shoddy. Going on two seasons worth of supporting data. I refuse to listen to this bullpoop Peterman grandstanding when there is a quarterback with more talent on the roster than there has been since at least Bledsoe except this time the guy is young. Keep cheering for a loser and get me some Gatorade while you’re at it. Yeah Peterman. That was a sweet out he threw on his first pass attempt that nobody talks about. Should’ve been a pick six for fun. (frank)in noodlearm.

Yeah, Peterman is not the long-term answer, but I see him as a long-term Bill in a backup role. I think he's been steadier and he's earned the start. He's 17-for-20 in the preseason. We all know Peterman is not our savior, but I'm fine with him playing now. Allen clearly still needs to practice his 5-yard slant. Let him learn and grow.

We're not winning the Superbowl this year, so I'd rather the O-line sort their poop out with Peterman than let Allen get hit 100 times and develop happy feet, or collect a couple concussions. We all just saw what they did to McCarron.

Start Allen week 5. Still gives him 12 games this year in a stress-free role

Spot on 3er

I like peterman,

As a quality nfl back up.
Starter when needed

He is not needed as the starter, allen was drafted to be the starter. He played well, what else can you ask for?

And

Bandit proclaimed allen starter 2 weeks ago
I have the 3er with the same proclamation, a month ago

Tie goes to the runner. And the runner has been here 16 months instead of 4.

If Allen starts sunday and blows the roof off the place, that's different.

If mcd thought that's who Peterman is, he wouldn't still be on the team. He also set the table to win the colts game that got us in the playoffs

You’re probably right,
but i think that’s a bad way to look at it

Allen should start...
when he’s ready, and not before

But you are talking about Peterman, as if he wasn’t thrown to the wolves, failed miserably, yet was able to overcome it with how different he looks this preseason. (Which I’m not sure how much that’s worth looking into during preseason)

The question is does Allen give us the best chance to win? I think it’s easily a yes.

He’s going to look like a rookie no matter what at times

The question should be:

“What’s best for Allen’s development and long term success?”

Still waiting for someone to tell me how Allen is a worse QB in the long run if he doesn’t start week 1

He wouldn’t be worse. It would just be pointless if he’s the best QB on this roster.

does he learn more in september working with the first team during the week and getting nfl game experience or does he learn more throwing to bubble roster players and hold a clip board at 1:05 on sundays?

The Rams took that position with Goff

The Browns & Jets keep saying they’re ok with not starting their top picks right away if they don’t look ready

Aaron Rodgers said he learned A LOT while sitting

Yes, u definitely learn more by doing
But not if you aren’t ready & are just going to be overwhelmed
