Looking forward to the "Spezza definitely staying Dallas" and "Florida happy with goaltending" blogs tomorrow.

happy with goaltending.....for now. A source told me that "some aren't as high on our goalies as others". More to Come.

Spezza has 1 year left on his contract. Mod nmc and ntc ... can’t imagine at his age why he’d go to Ottowa. Dallas has cap space and no reason to move him. Maybe at deadline.

So let me get this straight... You needed a source to tell you that Spezza could have some upside in Ottawa unless he gets injured. Dude your sources know their hockey!

Besides having zero to do with what the comment was responding to. The Isles win that trade so Garth probably wouldn't have done it.

I was responding to your comment, not the comment you responded to.

You said the Leafs lost talent, I responded with a point that basically said the Leafs gained more talent than they lost. Not sure how that has nothing to do with what you said?

You think JVR, Bozak, and Komarov equals more than Tavares? I bet you would have said different when they were all Leafs.

No Bozak is amazing now don’t you know? St. Louis had an unbelievable off season because Bozak is now on their team. But the team who got Tavares is the one who will struggle. That’s how it works.

There's an expression we use here a lot - & it's poignet in this case.

Ask a stupid question, receive a stupid answer.

I'm sure you're smart enough to work out the relation.

That's fair, I can respect that. I initially thought you were trolling. My apologies

I like all those players you proposed for the hypothetical trade. I don't hate players just because they play for a team - I hate them for other reasons.

I just don't rate Tavares like a lot of you guys do. Getting 3 quality players back for 1 is good business. Would those 3 players have helped the Isles more? I really think they would have.

It's difficult speaking reason to a lot of Leafs fans in here now because there's a lot of you supporters thinking the Cup is yours already. The post I responded to reflected that opinion & was pretty ridiculous. You then put forward a trade proposal trying to prove 1 is better than 3? You guys haven't addressed the weaknesses in your team only reinforced the C Depth to get it going like the past 2 Cup champions (you hope). The young guys coming through to replace what you have lost are just that, young. JVR will be a big loss, more than what most of you think by looking at what is written. If anyone mentions anything that isn't positive about the Toronto team, they are just bitter, jealous, salty or stupid. I was even told talking about Tavares in your thread is too sensitive a subject! It's pretty ordinary!

I'm looking forward to seeing your team play in all honesty. I'm just not expecting you to win unless there are more changes.

so bitter.

Aussiepenguin is easily the most butthurt poster on the site at the moment. It is pretty funny to see his constantly negative take.

I also like the guys whose argument against the Leafs is all about not winning a playoff series two years after finishing last, and facing stronger teams than them both years.

They are holding on to every scrap of hope they can that the Leafs don't ruin their life by winning even a playoff series; so pathetic.

Its not nearly as good as you would make us believe. If the D is not as bad as you think what’s holding back the Leaf’s? Another question is a TDL rental D man who is not elite but gobbles important minutes are found where at what cost? So this minute muncher bounces another minute muncher hiding the D deficiencies as in Hainsey or Zaitsiev is a humungous bust.
- Nighthawk

The fact that their best players are like 21 or something? Or the fact that their experienced vets are in their mid-20's. Have you looked at the ages of the cores of teams who have won recently.

I guess if you can't bring a cup home 2 years after finishing last, it's time to just give up.

Sorry man, that trade would not have been accepted by any Islander fan and any Leafs fan who proposed it would be ridiculed for overvaluing their players.

IMO at worst the production of JVR vs Tavares is a wash, Bozak's production should be matched by someone like Kapanen or Brown, and Komarov was pretty easily replaceable. Neither JVR or Bozak brought a strong defensive game and Bozak's Centre duties are easily covered by Tavares.

So yes 1 is better than 3, prior to this offseason any non Leaf fan would laugh at this proposal.

Quite frankly I don't give 2 (frank)s about the Leafs position. I'm going to enjoy what they bring though. I'm not butthurt (& have no idea what I'd be butthurt about, the Pens are fine & have won back to back cups), just responding to ridiculous posts I see from time to time. Your continued emphasis on a team finishing last to playoffs is off as well. You guys rebuilt very intelligently (I've said this before - how negative of me ), & finishing bottom is all part of getting to the top. So defensive..................

Hence me calling it hypothetical.

Time will tell In response to the final sentence.

Connor Brown is very very good, but also part of the NHL team for 2 years. Will he increase his scoring, I would say so given he gets a bigger role. Then will other players regress? All questions that can be answered given time.

Reimer. Hold it right there. Florida has learned what Leaf and Sharks learned by experience At his peak he might reach mediocre as an unreliable back up, however there isn't a player in sports who gives a better upbeat interview. The media love him.

(frank) man, the prê ejaculation in this post is most impressive!

There's many 'other' teams as good & better than the Leaves right now. You guys lost talent as well - & Not poopty bottom 6 guys. How much is this quality Dman going to cost you & where will he come from? The great Lou couldn't seem to find 1, so we'll see. I'd give Florida as much chance as The Leaves at the moment.

- Aussiepenguin

Yeah we lost JVR, he'll be missed. Odds are we never get that #1 dman unless he's home grown. If they can get some more confidence in the playoffs and teach Gardiner to look up at the guy's sweater before he makes his passes then I think we can get farther. It's not like they were out in 4 games either, the leafs stretched out the series' with good teams. It's not a success, but it's promising.
