Never understood why this bothers people. I picture people having temper tantrums yelling "This is my safe space!". I find it extremely odd behavior to have a segregation mindset, especially on a website about sports.

Real hockey fans enjoy talking hockey, not just in their own teams bubble.

Posting things that are demonstrably false and then standing by those fallacies in the face of factual evidence to the contrary is not enjoying hockey talk. It's purposely trying to negatively effect other people's enjoyment of the site.

Legitimate hockey debate is what the people posting the relevant stats to the conversation juxtaposing JT and CG were doing. Continually posting uninformed opinions to try and irk people then boasting about "taking them down in the Leafs thread" is trolling plain and simple.

Nobody needs a "safe space" here. But nobody needs an intentionally disruptive Richard wrangler either. You wouldn't accept it in the Flyers thread and you shouldn't have to.

Defence had injuries last year. We just need a true number one. Klefbom, Larsson, Nurse and Benning are actually very good 2 through 5 D...but that’s one position thats tough to play when your slotted in one spot too high. Add an OEL or Giordano and nobody would have an issue with our defence.

Yeah guys can riff on the Leafs and have some fun with it if they're gonna actually talk some hockey talk too. There's a lot of good posters from other teams that come in here because it's the most active thread. When it's pure ball busting and nothing else it gets a little tiresome.

Looks like Dubas is hoping the Leafs defense can be improved from within. That and for our forward corps to be good enough to make our D look good. We've got some nice young defensive prospects, we just have to hope a few turn into solid NHLers.

But yeah, finding any top pairing defenders, let alone true #1 guys is hard. They aren't traded often and hard to get one through the draft (unless you're picking #1 OA) unless you just draft tons of them and hope you get lucky.

Just because people are entitled to have an opinion, doesn't mean there should be no consequences for making your opinion public if it is stupid, deliberately adversarial, or based on no facts at all.

And yeah, how you relay that opinion definitely has a big impact on how it's received. In cases like this one, you're target audience also is important.

Lol...so the false narrative is that the Oilers blueline lacks depth when in reality it is deep. poopty to ask a #2 to be #1 and a #3 to be #2 and a #4 to be a #3 and so on and so on. Next thing you know everyone is over their heads. That’s why it seems the teams with a great #1 never have issues. Drew Doughty won 2 Stanley Cups leading a bunch of #4 and 5 D-Men....and the D as considered their strength!!!

Makita is alright. I think he was caught off guard having to police the biggest poop show thread on the site. The mods volunteer their time and the summer doldrums have us all on edge a bit.

I'm sure we weren't the only ones flagging (rightfully according to the section of the CoC he posted) but all of those flags show up in his inbox and he has to read through them to see what's up. We just deal with the nonsense in here. Imagine having to read all the derp from the rest of the site on top of that! Lol.

Long story short, best thing for all of us is to post facts in the face of uninformed opinions, which is what happened initially. If that fails the first time then ignore and watch the posts get increasingly ridiculous as no response is provided then watch them disappear.
