Meh. Defense is coming. They're drafting defense. I'm a patient guy and have all the time in the World. No need to rush anything. I have no doubt the Leafs aren't winning the Cup this year. When I look at the Penguins defense, along with the Caps and Golden Knights defense, I'm not concerned with the way the Leafs are building their team. The Ducks, Blues and Predators have been lauded for years about their defense. Same can be said with the Hurricanes now. Defense is vastly overrated in hockey.

JVR won't be able to do anything more than Simmonds has done for Philly being parked in front of the net. So I wouldn't expect Giroux's numbers to change much. Not like they need to in the first place, he's already a stud.

The player who plays in Simmonds spot on the PP needs to be a RH shot. JVR is a left hand shot who is more likely to take the spot that Couturier occupied last season which is the high slot. A spot where Brayden Schenn led the NHL in PP goals scored playing in. Unless of course the Flyers change their PP set up.

I think it just depends on your situation. The Pens, Caps, and Knights had pretty average defenses but they also had goalies that were on fire when they were winning.

It’s still luck, it’s proven every year when players post astronomically higher assist totals, especially secondary assists totals compared to their average. They will come down.

If you want to bet on him then go ahead, chances are you will be losing money.

Odds are a guess using stats...the stats tell us Giroux will not be even close to where he was last season. It’s up to him to prove everyone wrong.

Doesn't change the fact that over the last 5-6 seasons Giroux has been one of the top scorers in the league over that time span. Calling any of it luck is complete nonsense.
