Thank you Pens fan! I'm not saying Tavares is a bad player but the notion that he is top 5 when he isn't even top 10 is ridiculous. He will not be winning the MVP and his odds are comical. Great player but I agree with the Pens fan, step below the elite guys.

What was it? 3 years ago that he finished 2nd in the league in scoring and finished in the top 3 in Hart trophy voting?
Sounds fairly elite.

If they can make it deep than he is the type of player that could win a conn Smythe. But, for at least the next 3 years They'll have to get past teams in Pittsburgh, Tampa, Boston and Washington (I think they're better than people give them credit for) who are more experienced and, in my eyes, a little better.

Honestly, the leafs will be fun to watch....I personally love explosive offfensive play with little regard to defense...but they have some seriously tough competition in the east. Even the hurricanes with that defensive core are gonna be tough for the foreseeable future.

the Leafs have always had issue with that even when they were in Hartford.

If you bet on Matthews you have to bank on a McJesus injury, that could make it pay off.
- Zezel

That could do it, but man I dunno if that'll happen.

Of course the flipside is that with JT on the other line, Matthews may get better matchups on occasion, whereas nobody is line matching anyone but McDavid in Edmonton.

Haha not all season, dog days of summer though, I'm coming for you. Obviously the Toronto crowd gets the love from the media, ticks me off a little. All in all I think they will be a good team again but the way these playoffs are set up i would not be surprised at all by a first round exit from them. Just annoying that the media wants to crown them before they hit the ice.
- ClaudeFather

I'll crown them.

That D is maybe a problem, but the firepower up front is so good that it won't matter.

Probably because Giroux had a lucky season.

He’s good. Will get 70 points....but his insanely high shooting percentage(17.5%) is unistainable from his 11% career average. In the last 6 years he’s only reached over 10 twice.

And he had the most secondary assists per game in the league...which is a lot of luck involved.

Giroux is a great player but he will be no where close to being where he was last season.

Cool. Maybe if you could keep them out of your mouth for five minutes they would not be so inclined to devote column inches to them.

Now take your closet obsession and go (frank) your hat.

The media is just saying they're good, which they are. Nobody's crowning anyone, that's in your head.

So many butt hurt fans

Us Leaf fans get a kick out of them

Giroux is the top of the league in secondary assists every year, that is not luck. It's the setup of our powerplay from the point shots and cross ice action to Voracek ending with the net front presence getting a piece before it goes in. Do your research before you call it luck. I agree the goals will come down some.

If more people gave a (frank) about the Flyers they'd get way more air time. You should start recruiting fans.

It’s still luck, it’s proven every year when players post astronomically higher assist totals, especially secondary assists totals compared to their average. They will come down.

If you want to bet on him then go ahead, chances are you will be losing money.

Odds are a guess using stats...the stats tell us Giroux will not be even close to where he was last season. It’s up to him to prove everyone wrong.

Why you mad Tavares isn't sh!t? this man is soft, he is not a winner and save me the team Canada bull. Their C team could win the thing every year.

I have no idea what happened to him 3 days ago when he suddenly thought, starting tomorrow I'm gonna troll the (frank) out of the Leafs thread. Yeah, that's what I'll do.

I'm not mad at all. I don't need Tavares to be a superstar. Not with the forward lineup we have. We ain't the Flyers here, relying on 3 or 4 forwards to do all our scoring. We can roll the lines.

Kessel wasn't a winner either, so we're all aware of players who aren't winners. You simply don't win a Cup with guys like Tavares or Kessel.

I think you need to worry about keeping the puck out of your net, not so much scoring. Don't need Marchand racking up 6 points in a playoff game or anything. That line torched your team. Maybe you should have went out and got some defense.
