Agreed. But this isn't the issue in this particular instance.
Posting things that are demonstrably false and then standing by those fallacies in the face of factual evidence to the contrary is not enjoying hockey talk. It's purposely trying to negatively effect other people's enjoyment of the site.
Legitimate hockey debate is what the people posting the relevant stats to the conversation juxtaposing JT and CG were doing. Continually posting uninformed opinions to try and irk people then boasting about "taking them down in the Leafs thread" is trolling plain and simple.
Nobody needs a "safe space" here. But nobody needs an intentionally disruptive Richard wrangler either. You wouldn't accept it in the Flyers thread and you shouldn't have to. - BlueBallz
Here's what I think about it. He was clearly either clueless or just looking to troll. Why get all sidetracked on it? The Leafs just signed Taveras and that is creating huge excitement for the upcoming season. Why waste time debating someone like that?

Sure everyone is entitled to their opinion, but I'm entitled to call out that opinion as utter bullpoop.
Just because people are entitled to have an opinion, doesn't mean there should be no consequences for making your opinion public if it is stupid, deliberately adversarial, or based on no facts at all.
And yeah, how you relay that opinion definitely has a big impact on how it's received. In cases like this one, you're target audience also is important. - Thecakeisalie

The only free agent mentioned that should be of interest is Vermette as a 4C because he does bring some skill still.
Tavares, unfortunately, just isn't Hart trophy material. I love the guy, but he's a step down from the elite players. Of the players shown I REALLY like the odds on McKinnon. But, yeah, it us cool to see excitement back in Toronto. - cranktheradio

I was actually talking about that clueless Flyers fan that can't get over JT signing with Toronto, but it's something that can be applied everywhere for sure.
I always see that statement, that everyone is entitled to their opinion and it bugs me sometimes because people use it often to suggest you can't judge others for their opinion. They can have whatever opinion they want, but that doesn't mean others can't judge their opinion, or them for having such an opinion.
I think I'm gonna avoid the politics comment altogether today. It's been such a nice day, I don't want to ruin it. |

McDavid and Crosby are the top 2 on the list for most likely to win the Hart next year, which is exactly how it should be.
While you can argue a few others should also be ahead of Tavares or Matthews, I don't think its that crazy to have them listed somewhere near the top, after the first two.
They are both good players and could have a career year and be deserving of such an honour, the same as you could say about most of the other players on that list, such as Kucherov, OV, Mackinnon, Eichel, Laine, Backstrom, Tarasenko, Giroux, Kane, Kopitar, etc, all of which were also on that list as players with a chance to win such an award. Maybe some of those guys should have better odds than JT or Matthews, but it's not like it's ridiculous to have their names on such a list. |

The odds are probably higher for Matthews and Tavares because one of them will always get to face a teams second pair on defense, or split first and second pair. The others listed will always face teams first pair, making it harder to generate points. Others might be better, but that is probably a factor. |

Agreed on all points.
Question regarding the Flyers. When do we realistically get to see Hart come up to the big team and in what capacity?
I'd guess that unless they need an injury call up that he'll spend his first pro year in the AHL but having two pending FA's in net muddies the water somewhat when you have a highly touted prospect in the system. And if they wait until next year do they bring him up to be back up for a season (unless he's clearly the best in camp) and if so do they retain one of the current two tenders?

600 FO wins and 60 FO% is not nothing, nor is his experience nothing either. He'd be no worse than Plekanec was but at least it won't cost a 2nd round pick at the deadline to get him if you sign him now for 900K. |

You’re in a Leafs thread bragging about Giroux and you expect people to pat you on the back. Snap out of it man. Go back to the Flyers thread. - shack67
Hextall drafts well, but he never seems to make a big move for any decent ufas. So they come here where the action is so that they can believe that their team is relevant. |
