Babcock is the best coach in the league. Partly because he is ruthless. If you aren't good enough you are done. |

102 points says he still is Claude, I don't think Toronto will be bad I just know they aren't sniffing a cup. Book it. - ClaudeFather
Sniffing a cup must be a flyers thing. I know Nylander is cute and all but I don't think he goes around sniffing jockstraps

Wow, didn't know teams are supposed to go from last place to winning multiple playoffs series the following year.
98- Lecavalier drafted 1st, didn't make playoffs following year
99- Stefan drafted 1st, no playoffs again
00- DiPietro drafted 1st, no playoffs (Tampa and Atlanta still not playoff teams either)
01- Kovalchuk drafted 1st, no playoffs, Tampa still at the bottom
02- Nash, no playoffs
03- Fleuey, no playoffs
04- Ovechkin, lockout
05- Crosby, no playoffs for Pittsburgh or Washington
06- Johnson, no playoffs
07- Kane, no playoffs
08- Stamkos, no playoffs
09- Tavares, no playoffs
10, 11, 12- Hall, RNH, Yakupov, no playoffs
13- MacKinnon, playoffs, lost in 1st round
14- Ekblad, no playoffs, Colorado back out of the playoff picture
15- McDavid, no playoffs, with Hall and RNH
16- Matthews, oh look, back to back playoff appearances which no other team has ever done after having the 1st overall pick and taking 2 top teams to game 6&7
17- Hischier, playoffs, eliminated 1st round in 5 games
18- Dahlin, don't know yet
Can't say it's only because we got 1st overall that we made the playoffs. Coach makes a difference and he's gotten us in the playoffs back to back years against 2 tough teams. I could probably go back even further to prove my point but too lazy. - matt1337
nicely done... those 'fact' things always get overlooked, but I'm guessing the phillytard has retreated to a quiet dark room in the basement to get over the lingering concussion symptoms, so probaby won't read it.
and we should always ALWAYS remember that the Leafs cheated, they tanked and won the lottery.. and everyone knows that's against the rules.
they cheated "Stealing" Babcock from Buffalo when he had already fully signed a contract there (why the f__ would anyone chose to got there?)
they cheated when the signed Tavares from the Islanders - who of course became a much worse player the moment he joined the Leafs
they cheated letting Lou go to the Islanders submarining the Islander's chances of resigning Tavares...
the Leafs cheat always and all the time
and their coach sucks
and... and...
Philly's great... and they won "all those Cups" in the 70s because of the great skill they had.. .it had nothing to do with the league officiating allowing them to run and around assault pretty much anyone as often as they wanted to... nothing to do with that at all.
remember Leafs cheaters
Flyers honorable organization with rational fans

Outsider’s perspective:
- Babcock is a top five coach in the NHL, and that is without debate. What the Leafs are paying him is of no consequence to anyone...not even sure why that is coming up.
- Nylander is a very good player, but still needs to take a step to be up there with the Laine’s of the world. He wants to be in TO and I think he signs a team friendly deal, 6 years at $5.85 million.
- Tavares, IMO, has always been slightly overrated. Ranks somewhere around #10 in the league amongst centres and somewhere between #20 and 25 overall. That doesn’t mean he isn’t a first line player, or even a star...it just means that he isn’t a superstar.
From a guy with no skin in the game, either way.

Nice to see a sensible perspective far from the propaganda Flyer/Leaf banter that preceeded this!!!!
I agree on Tavarez. A fine player, a Top 10 center. Not of the Malkin, McDavid, Crosby superstar status...but very, very good. He will top 90 points, maybe even flirt with 100.
Don't quite agree on Nylander. I am sure he wants to remain a Leaf, but in light of the Wilson, Larkin deals....can't see that he signs for less than 6.5 per, unless it is a shorter type BRIDGE deal. If he signs for long term (7-8 years)....6.5+ in my opinion. If Leafs ink him for 6...job well done! |

I think if you give Patrick a year or two, swap in Konecny and hopefully Carter Hart for Simmonds and Elliot. I'll take the Flyers. JT has never been Claude Giroux nor will he be, where is his triple digit season? Has he been to a cup? - ClaudeFather
