Konecny year three, Patrick year two, JVR to the mix, I think you will see the Flyers put their pieces in place as well. We will contend for the metro with average goaltending, just need our goalies to give us something. Not to mention Provorov and Ghost are absolute studs.

Anyone here listen to spittin chiclets? Some good Babcock bashing on there, seems to be right too. Guy is drawn up as jesus but in reality he had super stacked Detroit teams and hasn't done much with the Leafs.

Babs is a good coach, I’m sure any team would like to have him behind their bench but I agree with the sentiment that he isn’t as good as he’s proclaimed to be. He hasn’t won a playoff series since Lidstrom retired and the team had already had what 12 straight playoff appearances before he even got there. The cup winning team had 4 potential hall of famers on it (Lidstrom, Datsyuk, Hossa, Zetterberg) plus Rafalski. He was also outclassed by Bylsma of all coaches the year prior.

I wouldn’t be surprised if his seat got hot if he doesn’t at the very least win a playoff series this year with Tavares, Matthews, Kadri down the middle. His coaching should be able to make up for the fact that the defense isn’t necessarily as strong as the other cup contenders. On paper I think the only team that is ahead of them in the Atlantic right now is Tampa. But Boston always seems to give them fits in the playoffs.

And we have someone that actually watches/pays attention to hockey. You said it perfectly, not that he's a bad coach but definitely overrated. Hasn't won a series since Lindstrom retired is troubling. This year should show what's what, if he doesn't get out of the first round I would assume the seat will heat up quite a bit, especially if they win the Atlantic and then get ousted.

$7M is the going rate for 30+ goal scorer. 6 years may be a year or two too much but that’s free agency for you. Goal scorers don’t grow on trees. I think the leafs will miss his presence this season while Johnsson and Kapenen get assembled to an 82 game season.
