You should see the fabbro to vancouver rumors with all nashvilles D locked up. Hilarity on twitter
- Codes1087

There is no rumors. It started on SN650 and the guys were hypothetically talking what if in two years Fabbro didn't want to sign with Preds because of a logjam .

Then the idiots like Tanbir text in Gadjovich for Fabbro . The announcers say not a chance . Then the next idiot texts in. Then Tanbir takes it to Twitter

There is absolutely no truth to the idots making a wish list

Hughes is going to be so (frank)ing good dont you guys even worry

Our PP is going to be near top of the league for years with BB, EP and QH working together.

Brock can easily feed Hughesy for one timers, but it's not really a big deal because it will be Hughesy feeding Brock 98% of the time.

Benning taking charge

Good on him. I think he's the type of guy (much like Eriksson lololol) that takes time to get comfortable. When you're comfortable you tend to perform better.

I get a sense of patience from Trader Jim now that he's filled in his age gap. I'm sure he'll always be looking for an opportunity to upgrade 1LW, 2C, and RHD and happy to target guys in the Tavares/Duchene/Karlsson age range, as well as giving up a couple of prospects or pick to pull it off - but how many GM's in the league aren't doing that?

Fortunately we're getting closer to that point where we will have some excess young talent we can use as trade currency and it won't have to be our top guys.

Speaking of trades

I think trading for first round picks will become next to impossible soon . A rare transaction.

There is too much benefit from ELC to talent for the future.

One GM said it even the other day that it will be very hard to get first round picks

The landscape has sure changed from the days of old when trading was a major building tool in the 70's 80's and 90's. In 1971 the Golden Seals gave up the first overall pick (Guy Lafleur) for a guy named Erine Hicke and the 10th pick

"Traded Ernie Hicke, 1970 first round pick (#10-Chris Oddleifson) to Golden Seals for Francois Lacombe, 1971 first round pick (#1-Guy Lafleur), cash on 1970-05-22"

Didn't the Leafs give up Tom Kurvers for the Scott Neidermayer pick?

Putting even more pressure on getting 2nds. Cap world makes ELC’s golden for cost control. Locking up good RFA’s long term makes trading even harder. Takes a lot of creativity or lots of prospect depth for us to expect any big trades.

Not sure .

I think 2 nds are the new firsts for trades now. Unless it is a superstar not many GMs will part with their first.

No more Tanev for a first and a prospect.

More like Tanev gets a 2nd & a prospect maybe. Better to keep him probably.
On Ellis who has missed 78 games in the past 5 seasons & never scored 40pts in a season so @6.25m its fair for both sides. Value is he ups his game in the PO’s.

I had it wrong, they traded FOR Tom Kurvers and gave NJ the 3rd overall pick.

"The notorious trade went down on October 16, 1989, and saw New Jersey send Kurvers to Toronto in exchange for a first-round pick in the 1991 draft. Kurvers was a decent enough offensive defenseman, but the Maple Leafs were terrible, and the pick ended up being third overall. The Devils used it to select Scott Niedermayer, and the rest is history."

Time for Chris Tanev to get traded to Edm. They cant afford another bad year. Lets see Tanev for the Nuge.

They can be respectably bad with or without him. The reason Hextall has built the best prospect pool in the league is because he's traded for so many good picks since he came onboard in 2014 doing this very thing.

Just my opinion...

Guess it comes down to the offer then & anything less than an early 2nd is giving him away or what prospects.

I’d be down for that but highly unlikely my friend. It would deepen us at C & open up many other trade scenarios sooner or later.

Yes I know I'm just saying they have some good prospect from trading assets. Which will be good for their future, presumably.

No...just stating opinion. That you can build a nice prospect pool (in part) with good asset management.
