But what about those long-standing rivalries, like Pittsburgh vs. Edmonton and Vegas vs. Colorado? Are we simply going to dismiss the rivalry aspect of them?

Diversity, it's all about diversity

Diverse schedule – “Wednesday Night Hockey” will feature NBCSN’s widest variety of teams to date on Wednesday nights, including multiple appearances by Tampa Bay, Colorado, Toronto, Vegas, Edmonton, Nashville, and Winnipeg. The defending champion Washington Capitals lead all teams with eight “Wednesday Night Hockey” appearances;

I think they left out the diverse range of sports they will integrate into the hockey coverage. I can't be the only one hoping for another NASCAR Night

Well...

NBC Sports will present exclusive primetime coverage of the 2019 Coors Light NHL Stadium Series game between the Pittsburgh Penguins and Philadelphia Flyers from Lincoln Financial Field, home of the Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles, on Saturday, Feb. 23, 2019 at 8 p.m. ET on NBC

and

NBC Sports will present 13 NHL games on NBC, beginning with the 2018 Discover Thanksgiving Showdown on Friday, Nov, 23, when the Philadelphia Flyers host the New York Rangers

So there's that.

Selfishly, I'm pleased that the home games the Flyers do have on those Wednesdays are 7:30 start times and not 8pm start times.

I hate weekday 8pm start times.

I know.

Personally, I'm glad. I'd rather have more 7PM starts on weeknights.

I'd love to go to opening night there, for the Flyers, of course. I'm over the whole Vegas hype thing. Their 15 minutes is up. We saw the Flyers there in February and it was great. Unfortunately opening night falls on a date that is work-critical and I cannot take the time off to go.

Well, after they have the 10-minute concert from the Bellaggio from some 3rd-rate band, they'll have the banner raising which will somehow take about 45 minutes. Then you have the 20-minute Medieval Times show, so you're probably looking at a 2AM EST start time.

Totally crazy question, and I apologize in advance.

I will never turn down anyone if they're a good fit. Maybe I'd draw the line at Hitler or the Jonas Brothers, but that's about it.
