And that's were the patience comes into it. Means you can come out the other side a better team. There's no guarantee with prospects are correct. However, Liljegren is legit and I have faith that teams other than Nashville and Anaheim can develop good dmen.
Anywho, you certainly don't move anything of value for those 3 dmen. Of the Leafs were so included, they could've done the trade any time over the last 3 seasons. As you mentioned, the Leafs have been linked to them for years now. They've been rumoured to be available for over 2 years as well. Doesn't look like anyone is biting on those guys. Tyson Barrie is utter useless while not on the PP. On the PP he is dynamite. Always a fantasy favourite of mine.
Anywho, it's really a mute point. Dubas doesn't look interested in trading for a top 4 dman. - walshyleafsfan
I get where you are coming from. I think the Leafs do need to add at least a number 4 d to stop gap for two years...but I’ll meet halfway. It doesn’t need to happen now, it can happen at the TDL. There is no rush.
For now I can very well see Rosen, Holl, ect fill out those last spots. |

There's a growing list of defensive prospects coming. If you give the top 5 spots to
Reilly, Gardiner, Zaitsev, Dermott and Hainsey you have two spots to fill from
Carrick, Nielsen, Borgman, Rosen, Ozhiganov and Holl. I would think that Nielsen is ready and a big, hitting D man (even though he shoots left) will make this team soon. Holl as a big RHD has a shot. Liljegren will be up in time for the playoffs and Gardiner is will likely be lost as a UFA. Sandin and Rasanen could be up by end of 2019-20 season. Rental at TDL is likely. No need at all for a trade.

He's in the last year of his contract. Do the Leaf retain him one more year?
Also Gardiner is in the last year of his contract. TDL bait? |

Ummm....yeah? No poop. But Marleau is not better than Okposo at this point in his career, yet you criticize the Sabres signing.
If you think you can ruffle my feathers by pointing how bad PCand his signings are I’m gonna suggest you go back and take another run at me. Your troll game is amateurish at best.

Both will walk after this year IMO. Gardiner if he has another 50 - 55 points this year will be looking for 7 x $6m easy and he's not worth that to the Leafs with Liljegren on an ELC. Hainsey - thanks for the memories, but again managing the cap, Leafs have lots of replacements in the system. Leafs are a playoff team so as much as it will pain UG, he stays after the TDL and walks for nothing.

Liljegren and Sandin have top 4 potential. The rest do not unless a huge turn around happens.
Rasanen, Durzi have potential as well but in no way should we prepare for them to be that. We will most likely be disappointed |

It's really not even a debate. Marleau is better. And I'm not even saying Marleau is amazing anymore. Okposo is just not good. |

Their ability to score is about the same
But undoubtedly Marleau is a better two way player and a leader. |

We trade Nylander yet? - SofaKingBored
Yup. Got Hall Gill in return. poop player, but our cap space is awesome. We can make a move for a guy like Nylander now. |
