This was a great idea by Bill throwing these questions out there.

Honestly, that got me through the last hour at work.

Things I learned:

1.) The Flyers have employed scouts named "Jim McMahon" and "Doug Overton". Those are also names of Philly sports figures that have nothing to do with hockey.

2.) Peter Dineen, brother of Bill Dineen and uncle of Kevin, was a Flyers scout and was actually drafted by the team in 1980 in the late, late rounds. That makes Gord the only Dineen that didn't draw a cheque from the Flyers.

3.) At one point, we had both Patrick Burke and Wade Clarke as Flyers scouts; both the sons of NHL GMs.

Another thing I learned: Hobey Baker was actually born just outside of Philadelphia.

OK, now that the inductees are public info, the three with Flyers or Philadelphia connections:

1) David Poile is the son of inaugural Flyers general manager Bud Poile.

2) Red Berenson, was part of Mike Keenan's staff with the Flyers in 1985-86. He is much better known for something he did against the Flyers during his playing days: scoring six goals in one game.

3) My HockeyBuzz colleague and friend Paul Stewart is a University of Pennsylvania graduate (and was a gofer for Fred Shero and the Flyers players when the Flyers used to train at the Class of 23 Rink) and later played briefly for the Philadelphia Firebirds.

D'oh! I had Berenson in mind, but I ruled him out because he was Canadian born.

Or Shea Weber just 4 picks later.

That draft was insane.

I want to see some of the old school guys try to guess this, as I can't think of anyone.
- jmatchett383

Can't guess a name but I'm sure the dude scored a double hat trick in one period against the Flyers, or if it was a goalie he recorded two shut-outs in the same game against the Flyers.

Were he to retire today, my gut says no, but I don't have his stats memorized so I'll review and see if it changes my mind.

Not being a HoFer isn't an insult.

Not yet. No single stat pops out, no hardware, no Cups.

A couple of more years of typical Claude production (not 100 point years, but around 75 or 80 pts) and a Cup, and I think he's a shoo-in.

Nope, has to win at least 1 cup to even be a thought, maybe 2 cups to be mentioned in the top forward list on hockeybuzz.

Flyers Hall of Famer now or soon to be IMO. Needs to win a Cup and finish with at least 200 to 300 more points to be HHOF

Hey, if Hedman can win the Hockeybuyzz Vezina, I expect Giroux to win the Jack Adams.
