This happens. Dean Maccammond was a too good a player to be a suitcase throughout his career, rumour has it that he a Bible thumper that preached way to much in the locker room, and simply didn’t fit in anywhere despite his on ice pay.

The Athletic has the Flames farm system ranked at no. 29 in the league. Are the Flames prospects really that bad or do they just lack depth? There are a couple of ringers in there (Valimaki, Kylington) but man, 29th sure seems low.

Could be homer bias, though.

I think it's mainly a depth issue, beyond Valimaki and Andersson, I don't know that there are many surefire impact players in the Flames system at this point. Goalies are always such a crapshoot, and guys like Dube/Kylington/Mangiapane/Gawdin/Foo are seen more as depth players in a lot of people's eyes, not top 6/top 4 locks.
