Vanek wasn't exactly "fun" to watch except in the shootout or when he was sniping goals
- jcragcrumple

Vanek was a cheat code in shootouts... Every time I was like... ohh.. Okay Vanek is up.. this is a goal.

He wouldn't even deke.. he'd just skate up, flex his stick, and take what was open. It was dumb how easy he made it look.

Pommer was pretty good at doing the same thing too back in the day.

There were some goals where the goalie wouldn't even move. Post and in before the goalie could react.

The around-the-world was fun for a while. I remember Hasek had a little mini melt down about that

Who would anyone consider for a Reinhart deal? It seems strange he is not signed yet. Offers must be coming in.

Nylander and Larkin too. There is nothing to worry about he has ZERO leverage.

Just Curious,

What do you think it is that doesn't make Dahlin tough and not a penalty killer?(As per your reply) From what I heard he doesn't shy away from hitting and if he is going to be a Number 1 I would hope he would be at-least a decent penalty killer, even though he most likely will be better than decent.

That's a good point, I guess the fact that he is 18, worries me to some degree. He may grow into that role, not sure if it happens in October or even this season.

Geesh - alot of you guys are pretty sam sensitive

Reinhart, STL first and Nylander for Panarin extended.

Tell Panarin we're very close to NYC, but make sure he doesn't have use of his phone until after he signs

it's not strange at all. We didn't sign Risto to his deal until the first day of camp last year.

Botts even said it would get done and has been in contact with them all the time.

I don't see Nylander panning out. Too bad, but he has a Brett Hull style game 20 years too late

I saw online last night that he was also only 181 lbs... that's not exactly the body that should be delivering a ton of hits every night. Maybe it was old and he weighed more by the draft (I hope).

Those are pretty big exceptions.

I'm paying to watch entertaining winning hockey.
So far sam has not lived up to either.

Believe me, I hope sam is awesome moving forward.

His contract is a good conversation, its August

In the parlance of Gerbe, Panarin is capital "E" Elite.

Reinhart will never be as good as Panarin. Elite wingers, while easier to acquire than centers or #1d, are still difficult to come by

Yup. Exact thing.. just skated in... waited for the goalie to back up and increase Vanek's angle advantage... RIP ROCKET.

The good teams are always able to maximize their return on investment. The Blackhawks got Keith signed for $4.5M on a 12 year deal and that allowed them to keep the core around for as long as they did and win 3 Stanley Cups. Perhaps Reinhart signing long term now can prove to be a discount in the future as long as his performance relates to the second half of last season.
- Pegullaville

Perhaps jbotts hasnt seen enough of what he wants to see in sam?

Not sure if anyone has, you know except the sam club on here.

Trying up $ long term for your 6th best player is a tough decision.

Eichel
Dahlin
Mitts
Skinner
Risto

I would give Reinhart, Nylander, 1st and a 2nd for Panarin

Skinner, Eichel, Panarin could be the best line in the league

Yes. The New Jersey Devils won the SC playing the trap. Your entertainment has no baring on the game. Furthermore, if you talk smack about Rhino again, I will be forced to cut you. Cutting Sabres fans is something I absolutely abhor, so if you could play nice, it would best for all parties concerned.
- RhinoFan

Um, I guess your kidding.
Pretty sure most of us assimilate with our favorite players. Guys that play the game the way we envision ourselves playing?

Rhino = don't threaten me, you can't back it up
