Is this a sign that Allen starts?
- rmiethaner

Not sure. Hope it doesn’t mean KB is gone. He trashed Cam Newton and McD wasn’t happy about it. They don’t seem to keep players around who don’t stay the course.

I can see KB in the doghouse but I can’t see that as a basis to cut him.

I would say Zay Jones should be nervous

everyone throws out second overall pick

kid popped 25 goals in year 3

consistently 22 per year in the three year sample

he is no cam barker

25 goal scorers at 22 years old do not grow on trees

- navinrjohnson

Everyone throws out the fact that he was the 2nd pick overall?

Regardless, no sure why your so expressed

Points aside, he doesn't kill penalties
Doesn't finish checks
Doesn't go balls out
Has a tendency to get smeared

I thought you liked guys like probert?

Sam had a good second half, hope he scores 35 next year

Yeah, not saying cut, traded away though. He said he didn’t understand why Panthers drafted him when they didn’t have an accurate QB. Can’t imagine he feels much different about why the Bills would’ve traded for him with a perceived worse situation.

What’s more important - results or style?

Finally cleared for practice.

They can't afford to cut any WR with even a modicum of talent.

Intangibles are important

Players have special qualities, the nhl isn't just about points.

Maybe a trade deadline move, for a 3rd. If the Bill's are out.

I don't know what your obsession with "tough" players is. Not everyone needs to be tough. There are tons of great, great players that neither throw hits nor kill penalties.

I would love for them to make a movie about The Battle of Ramree Island
- homiedclown

I would have loved one about Verdun, Siege of Kut, The Somme, Passchendaele, or even a new one about Belleau Wood. But this war is often overlooked and even during the century mark for the war, that Hollywood could have promoted to no end, it gets nothing.

Thing is, if Dahlin and Mittelstadt are as good as advertised, it removes the need for Sam to be a star.

He can be who he is and be very valuable to us.

It was different a year ago when it was evident we lacked an additional star player to Eichel

I agree. But it’s not just about toughness either. The Great One and Gordie Howe are both legendary.

Sam gets it done.

Yes , those spots are already filled on the Sabres with there 3 main stars.

Eichel
dahlin
Mitts

So this guy puts up 25 goals and 25 assists / alot on eichels line, so he's great?

Dudes good, and doesn't bring any intangibles, other then net front presence.

Not a gym guy
Not a try hard guy
Not an overachiever

As a fan, he's not particularly an exciting player to watch.

You know the lack of speed thing and non flash

It's an opinion, is there anything wrong with the entertainment angle?

It seams like everyone is acting like sam just put up 200 + points like Gretzky.

I hope he's awesome. It would be a huge boost.

I'm just wondering about the contract and why it's not signed yet? Yes I know other guys haven't signed.

Maybe jbotts wants more from him

Yeah, don’t get me wrong I was super disappointed in him for a long time.

I think he took a big step forward in 2018, and it wasn’t just a hot streak (it partly was)

But you get a 25 goal 30 assist guy as your 3rd or 4th best forward, that’s around what contending teams have

You're totally right.

I guess I'm wondering if he gets moved though?

The contract could be signed any minute, but for some reason it isn't yet.
Our cap space is getting eaten up a bit too

Curious if jbotts sees that, and what's that worth?

Is he a top line nhl winger, maybe

Depends what he’s asking.

I think he’s fine with Eichel or Mittelstadt, but Skinner muddled it a little bit.

Not inherently, no, but under-appreciating guys that aren't flashy, yet still get the job done seems short-sighted at best, and at worst you'll miss a lot of good hockey and sour on perfectly good players and in the process not be entertained.

Guys like Jochen Hecht were nigh on indispensable, and were boring as (frank) from an entertainment perspective but necessary to win games.

It's just how it is. Even great players(Kucherov, Pastrnak) didn't sign until the last minute.

It's like asking why there are never any offer-sheets, or how Chiarelli remains gainfully employed.

Dave Andreychuk was decidedly not a flashy player, and he took that all the way to the Hall of Fame and 640 goals and over 1,300 points.
