After 1/1/18 of last year he had a GAA of 1.95 and save % of .930 or so. He's 25 with plenty of room for improvement.

Quick turns 33 in January. He'll be 37 in his contract year.
Gibson turned 25 in July. He'll be 33 in his contract year (same age as Quick now).
Speaking of injuries, which goalie blew out their groin the first game of the season a couple of years ago and missed 3/4 of the season?

Speaking of bad contracts, have you looked at your roster lately? Two Cups in 50 years and you think the team is all that.

- quackup

LOL

Quick was 26 when he first won the cup 28 with the 2nd cup. When was Gibson’s first cup win? Oh yeah he hasn’t won yet and won’t in the next few years. Not with that roster.

It took me 16 years to see the first cup. Who the (frank) cares how long they won. Your fan base is the only one who gives a rats ass it took so long for a team to win. You think the Huston Astros gave a poop how long it took them? How about the Angels? Do you think they gave a poop it took them forever to win? I’ll help you out. The answer is no. They didn’t/don’t care

BTW I’m not the only one saying the ducks gave out a bad contract.🤣😂

Also Kings had a WAY harder division before the 2nd and 3rd expansion teams.

Your team still has 1 cup. Have fun with that.

Oh and who the hell said the Kings were all that of a team?? Not me lol. Get a clue guy

So because I’m a kings fan you female dog about it because you don’t like what I say. But you have other people saying similar posts and don’t say poop. Yeah that makes sense. Don’t read what I say, problem solved. I have opinions like everyone else. You may not like them and yet you still answer. Mind your own business if you don’t like it.

We don’t mind .. just don’t make idiotic posts like your 1st one about JG not being a top. 3 goalie -

Among goalies who played in 50 or more games last season, in save percentage Gibson finished second only to Rinne’s .927.
His .916 when the Ducks were shorthanded led all goalies.
His .924 in all situations over the last three seasons trails only Arizona’s Antti Raanta and he’s played in 50 more games than the Finn. His 14 shutouts over the same span is just one fewer than Rask, Rinne and Minnesota’s Devan Dubnyk.

Lol
He’s not top 3

Vasi
Murray
Jones
Lundquist
Bobrovski
ALL Ahead of Gibson.

Hell I’ll put Quick ahead of him just because he’s played more in the last few years with the same numbers Gibson has had in less games.

8 years is a bad deal for a goalie made of glass. Kings at least signed quick and they actually won 2 cups since then. I doubt Gibson wins a cup with that mess of a lineup currently, especially if they can’t rid themselves of those terrible contracts in the next 3-4 years.

Career Stats

Gibson - 178 GP 93 W, 2.29 GAA, 0.923 SV% 16 SHO
Bobrovsky - 395 GP 218 W 2.44 GAA 0.920 SV% 24 SHO
Quick - 556 GP 293 W 2.28 GAA 0.916 SV% 49 SHO
Lundqvist - 805 GP 432 W 2.37 GAA 0.919 SV% 63 SHO
Jones - 224 GP 118 W 2.34 GAA 0.916 SV% 19 SHO
Murray - 68 GP 111 W 2.58 GAA 0.917 SV% 6 SHO
Vasilevskiy - 155 GP, 85 W, 2.61 GAA, 0.917 SV% 12 SHO

He is clearly Top 3..........

You obviously do mind. Your goalie is made of glass. Is he a bad goalie NO! Is he a great Goalie NO! Again, He’s made of glass. Your only good as long as your on the ice and for that it’s a bad deal. Are there better options right now available NO! So you have to do what you have to do to keep your players! Half the people think the deal is too long. NOT JUST ME! You only came after me cause I’m a kings fan that’s it.... I’ll bet you didn’t see my comments about the fluery deal either because it wasn’t your teams player! I also make comments to Chicago fans too but I’ll bet again you don’t read those either! It’s not just your team I talk about. I say my opinion where I please and if you don’t like it, we’ll, that’s a you problem. This site is all about opinions, leave if you can’t Handle it!

GM's continue to just not learn about long-term goalie contracts
- Rinosaur

I think Anaheim overspent by $1M/year but he does have what it takes to be Anaheim's long term #1 in net. As a hockey observer I think the team could have done a better job negotiating but as a fan opposing the Ducks I have to smirk just a little.

Are we making the assumption that 1 cup in 24 years (mind you 11 years ago) is much better than 2 cups in 50 years (2 recently)?

Quick earned his contract while Gibson has yet to steal a series for the Ducks in his career. I'm not saying he's not a good (possibly great down the line) goalie but no way he should command that much that early especially with your team needing to retool (just as much as the Kings) in the future.

The problem with this contract is if he's as good as Anaheim expects he's paid fairly and when he hits 33 the team is going to have to give him a raise but if he doesn't live up to the hype it's going to cost too much to get rid of his contract.

I think this is a great contract for a franchise goalie. Yes, it’s long, but you have him signed through his prime years only, which gives you flexibility to potentially move him with a few years left on the contract if it comes to that.
I know there are a lot of analytics being thrown around on this board trying to show that goalies don’t mean that much, but it’s hard to quantify great goaltending sometimes. Consistent great goaltending like Gibson produced last season can change the entire mindset of the team. The coaches and players say this themselves all the time because they know it’s true. Fleury was remarkable last year in Vegas and it helped set the tone. I believe we saw the same thing with CH last year in Winnipeg. I get the concern of injury risk, but that didn’t seem to bother Anaheim.

So by your logic Chris Osgood is a better goalie than Quick because he has 3 Cups.......
