Hope everyone is having a great long weekend.

I'm enjoying the beach with friends and family today. Did some hiking along trails with some caves yesterday. Had a nice backyard bonfire and some moose tenderloin for dinner. Got to put some rounds through the old hunting rifle Friday.

I'm just an Ontario/(Alberta now) guy... I have fam in Petawawa.. spent most of my summers in the valley b'y. Lived in Ottawa for 4 years and used to travel hwy 60 all the time. I know that area well.. I lived in Wilno for a few months, and spent a summer in Beachburg/Cobden area.. Oh, and went to college in Pembroke. But yeah, I grew up in Callander and went to high school in Da Bay..

The caves made me think of eagenville.. and the moose, straight redneck that neck of the woods.

Interesting. They're pretty lean animals I think. Do they cut the meat with pork for some fat? That's what happens for our ground moose and sausages.

I tried kangaroo burgers once at Taste of the Danforth. Overpriced like everything there but tasty. Best sausages I've ever had were wild boar. Farmed, so not really wild as I'm sure whatever they were given for feed added to the flavour.

Sounds great. Never had emu either. Tried ostrich in a green curry in Thailand. Fantastic.

I love trying weird meats, veg and fruits when I get the chance. Sometimes it works out...sometimes you eat a Selyodka Pod Shuboy.
