The front office is fine yes they made some questionable decisions as far as personal and trades but they continue to restock the system hawks be fine in the future. Sikrua is not getting traded neither is dcat or smaltz unless a deal comes along that hawks cannot refuse. The trades proposals are out of fun and to create discussion.

From my recollection of Hawks prospects in the World Juniors Showcase:

USA: Wise, Barratt, Entwistle, Ess
Canada: Mitchell, Beaudin
Sweden: Boqvist

Not sure if there are prospects representing other countries. Don't think so since I haven't come across any articles mentioning it.

I stand corrected: Entwistle is Team Canada, not Team USA. And no Hawks prospects on Team Finland.

This looks complete. Wise was the first rd of cuts, Ess too I believe. So before final cuts as I know it the Hawks have Barrat, Entwistle, Mitchell, Beaudin and Bovqist.

Not too bad at all even including the cuts.

Wise and Ess were cut when the two US teams merged. It's what happened to Barrett last year, but he luckily still on this year - he's the only Hawks prospect on the US team now and played wing last game because they have quite a number of centers now. I don't know about Canada cause they still have everyone listed.

Q.Hughes and Tkachuk were both scratches for the US in the game yesterday but will play today. Barratt was in last game but will rotate out tonight.

The USA plays Canada at 4:00 CDT today, correct? A link if anyone needs it: http://www.hockeydabeast413.xyz/wjc.html

Would love to see Sveden v Finland if anyone has a link.

Thanks to you and Rico for the info on who's in and who's out. I assume Wise getting cut wasn't because Barratt is the better player but more so because Barratt was the best player for the forward position and line needed whereas another player beat out Wise for another forward position and line needed.

Or maybe Barratt just had a better showing and Wise simply did not so the coaches selected the ones who played best in tryouts and prelims.

Similar scenario with Ess.

Bear, you've read my posts for a few yrs now. If I post something at 8:00 AM I might forget that info and mangle it in a post at 6:00 PM that same day. ...... Now I know what the old men at work were talking about 30 yrs ago when they told me they saw me on tv last night. The egg frying in a pan with a voice over saying "a mind is a terrible thing to waste"!
..... As the song goes, Sad But True.

My long winded way of saying I don't remember where I read that but it made good sense to me. I can easily see Bovqist being a Tyson Barrie. Lotta similarities.

Maybe someone answer this for me if the hawks sign player to an ahl contract does that effect the amount of nhl contracts or are they separate. Only asking if the kid the hawks got in hossa deal es whatever the spelling has a good showing could the hawks sign him ahl contract and then he could start developing in rockford.

Not that I know which country/coach does what but sometimes they leave a more skilled player off a roster in favor of one who fits a role better. In other words it's not always simply an allstar team.

So just cuz a kid gets cut, or makes a roster, isn't always the most skilled player making a roster.

No, Entwistle can not play for Rockford this yr. Easiest way to figure this out is look what league a player was drafted out of. If a player was drafted from ANYWHERE on earth BESIDES the OHL/WHL/QMJHL (CHL) they are free to play anywhere.

If you are drafted out of the CHL you can't play in the AHL until you are 20 yrs old, pretty much out of jrs eligibility. But like McDavid did you can play in the NHL at 18 or 19 but not the AHL.

Could be wrong but I believe AHL contracts don't count toward the NHL limit. Tyler Sikura is a recent example. He was on an AHL contract last season then finally earned his first NHL contract in late spring. Only then did his contract count toward the Hawks limit.

Yes as usual AEL Fox! It is called a two-way contract and when the player is on a NHL lineup, and only then, is it counted towards the cap. That's why you see a lot of shuttling back and forth (Hinestoza, Hayden, etc) for the day(s) to be cap compliant

Well if Boqvist can score over 50 points in a season at NHL level that ain't too bad?

It still lists both players from White and Red, so either Canada doesn't 'cut' kids like USA does or they just don't care to update the rosters.

Today is the last day and Canada is playing US right now. Lineups are below - Beaudin-Mitchell are the top pair and Entwistle is in.

Entwhistle will be in Hamilton (OHL) again this year. I will be able to see him live a couple times this year.
