Dahlin
Healthy McCabe
Goddamn it, Bogo get healthy
Maybe Guhle
Hunwick for depth instead of Falk
Beaulieu not playing

Should be a whole hell of a lot better

- jcragcrumple

Biggest thing for me is a health BOGO. I don't mind him one bit when he is healthy. If we can get him for 60 plus games this year healthy and get average to slightly above average goaltending out of Hutton, this line up should be MILES ahead of last year...as far as Skinner not having a defensive mindset, I could give a frank less, you have to score to win...

I really want this guy inked. Has anyone heard anything as to whether or not there is the intention of signing him long term before the season starts?
- Cup Crazy '07

89 posted a blurb from somewhere a page or so back. They'll talk to him, you're not trading for an asset like that to just have him play here for a year. And you're not having a player waive a NMC for a lack of stability. There's unofficial talks. At least there was, prior to the trade.

That's good. The thing that worries me is how little we gave up, and that there were no conditions put on any of the picks (i.e. the 2nd become a 1st if he signs). It makes me think both parties knew he was going to FA either way, so the cost was cheap.

I'd bet he'll get more on the open market. That said, if he would be good with the O'Reilly deal, it could make that trade a wash.

Meh
He’s ok i guess
I don’t think we’d miss him though

- jdfitz77

I think it would be a good thing to find a guy to replace his abilities at a contract that reflects those abilities.

He's not a black hole like Larsson. He makes players around him better. I think if Pom is here today at 2.5 mil, no one even bats an eye.

Barring injury, If ECHL doesn't put up 90 points next season, designate for assignment to the ECHL. SD5

No problem with that. He's a player that should have no problem maintaining his abilities into his low 30's.

Maybe, but looking at the proximity to home (knowing there is no way Toronto can afford him), playing with Jack, having Casey and Dahlin. I think you could get him in the $7million range

Perhaps. But we know the Sabres really liked Cliff.
We also know LW was barren before Sheary, and there are no prospects today with Skinner's ability (Nylander has his talent, not ability)
The Sabres are also not a team in a position to toss assets out the window (these are self proclaimed to be very important to Botts) for just one year of a top player.

It simply does not make sense for this team to acquire this player and not only be unable to re-sign him, but also to choose not to.

Skinner has a full NMC

Carolina was stuck because he vetoed trades already (allegedly)

Botterill goes I am not giving you a first at all and Carolina has no leverage in that matter.

I think Skinner signs in November

All signs point to resigning him, but until it's inked idk. Would love to get him on the cheap (under 7) and hopefully KO starts to produce to his salary. We have the room coming off the books, just gotta be smart. Trust the process
