I must say J Buddah-Ril has really done an amazing job!!

I had previously pegged them at 82 - 84 points before Skinner.
That assumed Sheary played 1st Line and we had relatively zilch for 2nd LW.

Now with Skinner penciled in on 11st with Jack (those two are made for each other) that pushes Sheary down where he can still play with high-end talent in Stats, but face lesser competition.

I'm now saying they can get to about 93 - 97 points .... bubble team, which IMO is an outstanding job...that is a 31 - 35 point improvement from last year and about 6 more wins with Skinner on the top line (6 WAR) ...holy crap!!!

I'm wondering just how many good pieces would we still need to add this off-season to get people to stop saying we're still going to be at the bottom of the league next season. I get that we may still suck. Until we start winning that's always a possibility, but come on. We've added the best goalie in the league last season, a quality back up who led the AHL, the best D prospect in 40 years, a league top 5 prospect center, 2 of our starting Dmen are now healthy, a quality 3C in Berglund, Sheary, and now Skinner.


We still might now make the playoffs, but I'm struggling to see how this roster will be a dumpster fire still.

It's only August. RFAs that are not arb eligible sign just before camp usually, or in camp, or the day before the season, or 2 weeks into the season.

This is business as usual. I'm not the least bit worried that he's not signed 6 weeks before camp.

Aside from the guys I've already mentioned, Risto, Lindholm, Rakell, Trouba. Kucherov didn't sign until October 11th.

At that total goals for, in your projection, only 3 teams would have scored more last season. It looks like a lot of work went into this, but there's no way this team is scoring that many goals. I think we need to shave about 40 off.

Now projecting a bubbleteam..95-97 points...that is 33 - 35 points, ... or so.
That is equivalent to 16 more wins, which is an increaxe of 55% or 13 more wins...pretty substantial improvement if you look at it that way.
They could do it if they hit expectations or better.

Both NJ and Colorado made huge 1-year leaps last year into the playoffs. I think the Sabres are now a 90 point team but they'll fall short. If we aren't playing meaningful games into early March then Housely's job is on the line.
