Actually I think it's the other way around if we want to look at it that way. When has Hextall taken a goalie in the first round? If they value goalies the most, wouldn't that be different? Truth is they draft BPA until getting deeper into the draft. It would be interesting to see what they would do if there was a goalie they felt was the BPA in a first round scenario. I also think they feel they can get a quality goaltending prospect in the later rounds.

Nobody with a brain takes a goalie at the top of the 1st round. Or rates a goalie as their top prospect. Too unpredictable.

Absurd to suggest that is what is being said. That's just what you want to to say. The Flyers have a very deep prospect pool.

"The Philadelphia Flyers made a massive mistake when they took the giant defenseman Samuel Morin with the eleventh selection of the 2013 NHL Entry Draft. Although Morin was once viewed as a legitimate future top-four defenseman in the NHL, there were definitely some warning signs with this selection from the very start. One major concern when looking at Morin was the question of if he would have been able to adapt to the speed of the NHL. Morin definitely had the potential to be a shutdown defenseman in the NHL, but his skill level was questionable as an early to mid first round pick." -sportster.com

Vecchione is an older and more mature player. Much younger players are higher on the list. Vecchione will get a chance and his play will decide if he is the true 3C the Flyers are looking for
- MJL

"All things considered, Mike Vecchione has picked up where he left off last year despite making a trying transition from the NCAA to the pros. While a lot of people go timid when making the jump, he continues to remain proficient on the offensive front. He is comfortable with making the correct play rather than swinging for the perfect play."- Dobberprospects.com

This is funny. Frost was drafted in the first round. That automatically makes him a top prospect. The Flyers arguably have the best prospect pool in the NHL so how does a ranking of 4th for Frost suggest that he is not a top prospect.?
- MJL

"Needs to get physically stronger in order to maximize output at the highest level, since he is undersized (5-11, 170) for the National Hockey League game." - The Hockey News

"Frost will likely play in the OHL next year and then he will get a shot at the Flyers roster out of training camp in the 2019-20 season." - The Hockey Wrters

Many consider Hart to be a future NHL star goaltender. The idea that nobody knows how a prospect is going to turn out applies to every prospect not just goalies.
- MJL

"Hart is quite undersized for the position but he hasn’t let that slow him down. He has performed well on all stages and will need to continue to work hard if he wants to succeed in the NHL. It may be too early to say, but I will do it anyways. The Flyers have a really good goalie in Hart and I will go as far as saying he will be the Flyers starting goalie for the 2020-21" - The hockey writers

Of the CHL Goaltenders of the year for the last 10 years, only Jake Allen is even an NHL regular. In teh same period, skaters who were player of the year included Mitchell Marner, Connor McDavid, Anthony Mantha, Jonathan Drouin, Jordan Eberle, Cody Hodgson, and John Tavares. SO clearly it just as hard to predict the upside of other prospects who were standouts in the CHL.

How many Phantoms practices have you actually watched? We'll find out what he is in the future. Same as every prospect.

Flyers practices, development camps which make the Flyers fans drool. I have seen Phantoms games where some of the non-prospects promoted by message board regulars vanish.

Your comments not only lack legitimate hockey insight, they lack common sense.

Nothing could be further from the truth. Unlike you, I actually form my own opinions rather than just parroting what I read.
